Conducive to Valheim PvP: Can set booby traps, use trees to push player movement, decent combat mechanics there, building and mobs can provide some interesting points to a battle (let me lure this troll out to smash my opponent's wall for example, oh my opponent is hiding out in a stone fortress in the Black Forest well let me just use my pickaxe on this here rock to call a few buddies over to harass him).
Problems in Valheim PvP: Skills can be cheesed (might be better to pause skill progression), continents can be huge, often mobs more dangerous than opponent, can disable PvP damage.
Ok what? Do you think those are good rules? Were you wanting to PvP? Do you pop on discussion boards to randomly post 'ok' on threads?
That is only the case when you are not ready for that biome yet. Otherwise, you should be more than able to handle any mob of the biome you're equipped for.
I wish you and your friends success ;)
Pick your targets... that would be the shamans and beserkers first and then the spear chuckers. As for the spear chuckers (whatever star they may be) keep your distance and dodge their throws, use the terrain for cover.
Even then, when you've got yourself a maxed padded iron gear set and black metal weaps, you'll be able to go melee without worrying about spear chuckers ... as I said, when you're equipped for the biome you make your home in, you are the most dangerous one there, not the PVE mobs ;)
Different continent spawns would be very interesting. I would like to see a few particular PvP seeds that people may also build on a middle continent beforehand for increasing equipment grading as you move towards the very center (kind of like how in Day Z you progress moving away from Spawn area). It would be really interesting to see battles in the center for the best stuff. Maybe figure out a way to reset the map back to pre-battle periodically (probably require a mod or battle map save file). Set events to Forest Troll raids and Bonemass Army raids so that it wasn't easy, but you're going to struggle without moving towards the center for best equipment. Have Longboats near the center, but Karves outwards. Have the most upgraded forge and workbenches, equipment just off center map where you have to sail which could lead to some awesome boat battles..
Spear throws still hurt like hell.
