Purposely dismantling Longship
How do I dismantle longship? I tried using the hammer and middle mouse clicking but didn't work.

and the best way is standing on ship hitting a mast, so when it breaks you auto colect materials

Damage it. You will get all the mats back.

Ram it up onto land so that you can stand up at the point where the mast is located -- you do not want to lose those nails. Then beat the mast until it falls into parts. You can try doing it in deep water but sometimes you get the nails, sometimes not.
I prefer not to use this exploit but because of the portal ship bug, I have been :(

I have tried damaging the ship but it will not break

Without mods you need to simply destroy it by hitting~~
Lure enemies, they will help you

Tested on SP boat damaged just fine so must be server settings.

I just did this and lost my nails...near the shore so I raised the ground.

No pvp is disabled. I play with friends and it's my ship.
