Join game does not work

I press the join game button but it does not let me join. it's like i never pressed it, and i don't get the invitation i get sent. any solutions?

You can try the steam friends list of you have someone already in the server.

Otherwise, you can also try the steam server browser. I believe its in the main steam app window under View at the top and servers in the drop down. You’ll have to select Valheim to see servers just for that and find it there.

If that doesn’t work, you’ll probably have success typing in the server IP and port if you can get that information from the server host. Just follow the format of IP:port like...

000.00.00.00:1111 where the 0s are the IP and 1s are the port.

If it’s your own server being hosted on your own machine or network, you’ll need your internal IP instead.

issue is my friend is hosting from valheim not dedicated server. and he got 2 friends joined but i can't for some reason. worked perfectly fine yesterday. i reset steam etc still broken, verified files too. ill look at servers but nothing in game works when it comes to joining

if the 2 friends disconnect, they won't be able to join again i think, i'm stuck with this ♥♥♥♥ 2

Can you join if they’re not in? The host may need to look into port forwarding on their router as well, the connection between you might not be good enough for a peer to peer connection. They can also try setting it up as a dedicated server on their machine.

I have the same issues on a valheim server, not dedicated.

We were 4 playing, i just disconnect from game and try to reconnect and it doesn't work at all. From friend server list or join friend game on steam...

its not dedicated server so he has not done any of that. he press ''start server'' just in game. nothing else no stress. worked fine yesterday but today i cant join but others can.

There seems to be an issue with a few for the past few days with that. Yesterday and just earlier there were issues connecting with one of my friends. The lag was horrible with it now and then when once got it but my internet connection was all fine and good on both sides. If you’ve tried all there is then the only thing you can do is just wait for a couple of days or so and see if it gets fixed or sorted out a bit. Something you have to expect to happen on an EA game now and then.

Also, try again through the friends list, then shift tab to open the overlay. Might be a prompt there that’ll let you in.

Its most likely something on the host's end. It usually is anyway, though it can also be on yours, usually the ISP. I'm not an expert or anything, but I've had my fair share of troubleshooting connection issues. For me, direct connect via IP is the only way it works, but I connect to a server a friend hosts.

Direct IP connection works every time for me so it could be your firewall, anti-virus, router for the host that doesn't have the proper port forwarding, something wonky with your ISP, or you've typed it incorrectly.

if it's not a dedicated server do what we did. make host restart server and start as community server. we all saw the server then and could join. hope it helps
