Stone pillar harvesting

Does anyone know if you can still break out the bottom of the stone pillars in the plains to get all the stone?

Just saw a vid of someone doing that with a battering ram so if you can't anymore it is a very recent change I've heard nothing about.

Pickaxe can work as well and the column can provide 400+ stone for very little effort.

dont know if its 400 . Stone henge circles give much more, but takes more mining

Just note that the hitbox is larger than the actual thing you are mining. So you can be left with what looks like a floating object but its still effectively connected to something. That just means you have to find the place where its connected, even if it looks like none exists.
