mods you consider you can't play without
so im a number of hours in, enough that certain things are starting to annoy me and im looking for ways to change how the game is played.

the first one is just the map in general, resources and stuff that I don't really want to have to mark off, and it seems there is a map mod, which is a collection of other mods.

I also hate needing to look at what resources I need to do something, and I would love to see how much I have, or even use resources from near by chests, there is a mod for that.

I also saw one that changes the number to a star system on tier of item and holy crap was that something I didn't realise I needed/wanted till I saw it.

so that got me wondering, are there any other quality of life mods that you would rather not play the game without them?

I think for now the only other thing I would really want is a better leveling the ground system and a good way to make a slope that wont be hellish to climb.

Valhem Plus, Grantapher version, offers building and crafting from chests.

Too many to be listed here but lets say:

Jewelcrafting
Backpacks by Smoothbrain
Storage_Backpacks by JamesJonesTV
a lot of skill enhancers
Rune_Magic by hyleanlegend
ItemDrawers by makail
MinimalUI by Azumatt

These are the ones I enjoy the most.

PlantEverything - Just like being able to put down some berry/mushroom plots nearby so I don't have to trek

Farm Grid - No need to manually space out plants

TorchesEternal - No refueling fire sources. . .helps if you have a lot of them or your builds require them in hard to reach places

Item Stacks - Increases the max stack size and decreases weight to scale. Save on the tedium of walking back and forth just to chop down trees

QuickSlotsAndEquipment - gives a set of 3 quick slots and equipment slots in inventory that enable a little extra space.

I was using a NoRainDamage mod for builds so they didn't break down just because of rain, but at present it was causing weird problems with structures not adhering to physics.

None, the game plays just fine without.

The only mod I use is mistbegone for the mistlands because I'm visually impaired. I was mostly skipping it after the first time through by only building and searching for things on the very edges.

I play vanilla

To all the people saying they only play vanilla.
Why are you even bothering to respond to a thread that's clearly not addressed at you? Does it make you feel better flaunting your purity like a fair maiden in the middle ages or something?

Mistbegone, EpicLoot (heavily configured to remove any drops and only keep the enchanting and trading part) and my own personally tailored to our multiplayer needs.

Nah, I support people using mods, I just think it's also fine for newbies to see in these kinda threads that vanilla is also fine.

Saw someone say they used mistbegone cause they are visually impaired, I think that the option should be part of the server setting as an accessibility option and that people with this condition shouldn't have to seek mods to play the game.

I also support people modding the game so that it fits better their lifestyle, I have a lot of free time, so I don't mind grinding, not everyone can say the same, mod the game to your pleasure.

saying I play vanilla, is just to add to the statistic, not to contradict the post. I like your kinda thread, cause what if I learn of a mod I'd actually like? That'd be cool. So keep making these threads, it's all love from me.

how is epic loot in general, it kinda seemed like a fun extra to enemy loot tables, I assume what you kept allowed you to power up crafted gear, does it feel overpowered or just a nice addition?

To add to this in a fairer way, I mostly play vanilla, but I also like to play with no build cost, which isn't a mod, but a server setting, I like to make my home pretty (nothing huge, most of the time, just pretty, as in, many details) so, no build cost makes, making new homes faster, while keeping the gen progression the same for gear, food, potions, etc...

I second this. The only reason I don't use mods: they will probably kill my ancient and last computer.

I'd love a mod that would make larger base less fps hungry, playing multiplayer and making a large base for everyone and having 20 fps is annoying, it seems to mostly be due to cpu usage constantly calculating building's integrity

Yeah! I looked into it extensively and it seems Valheim use more CPU with GPU handling certain instances and, well, my GPU sucks. Would love such a mod but 'fraid it would just add to the CPU cranking hot.

same, my cpu is technically "better" than my gpu, but large base just eat my fps, which is a shame, cause when I play multiplayer, I like to build big bases for my friends

I'll say that if you don't want to spend a lot of time balancing it yourself and are worried about balance I would advise against it.
The problem doesn't even come from making you too strong (the most recent update squished power level across the board) because you can just up the difficulty to compensate but looting actual items just becomes a bit cheesy.

But yeah I kept the enchanting part and made it all about gold economy, with being able to sell more stuff so it's less about just farming mobs 24/7 and allows you to do any kind of activity for some kind of benefit by selling the corresponding items.
