Why Can't I equip both the belt and wisp?
It seems really weird that I can only choose between light or carry weight when it could just allow you to use both. It wouldn't even be broken it just feels bad having low weight in the mist lands.

It's an odd quirk of the game, I don't enjoy temporary carry weight either. I'd much rather the belt just be a permanent slot, and an extra utility slot for wisplight/wishbone etc.

There are some mods that do add additional slots, including dedicated slots for armor (so they don't take up the normal space in your inventory).

This is not about slots, it's about carry weight, and I don't understand why they don't allow both. It's why I seldom use the wisplight.

be glad that you dont lose your pants slot for the belt.. we wander around far too long with the belt and treat it as "normal" but the belt is optional like the wisp

It is about slots. There is a single accessory slot, but three accessories (Wisplight, Megingjord, and Wishbone). That is why you are forced to choose between being able to see, extra carry weight, or finding hidden objects.

There is no accessory slot. You can put accessories anywhere you want. There's only a limitation on how many accessories can be equipped at the same time.

Steventirey was correct and speaking figuratively.
You have 1 slot for head, chest, clock, legs, ammo, and accessory.

You are both literally saying the same thing, only there is no little stick figure picture for the slots like most games have to display them.

Maybe I'm being pedantic, but this comment doesn't say anything about being able to equip more than one accessory:

"There are some mods that do add additional slots, including dedicated slots for armor (so they don't take up the normal space in your inventory)."

And, the wiki (at least) makes a clear distinction between inventory slots and equipping items:

https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Inventory_Screen

I was easily able to find a mod that allows equipping multiple accessories, but it doesn't add any slots:

https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1348?tab=description

I found mods that add armor and accessory slots, but don't allow equipping multiple accessories (as far as I can tell):

https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/92

https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/1356

There may be mods that both add additional slots and allow equipping multiple accessories, but they are clearly not the same thing.

I agree with this. We should be able to wear the belt and wisp light at the same time. Otherwise it would not make sense to bring the belt into Mistlands in the first place.

...

Well, after thinking about this. I DOES make a bit of sense. You're supposed to be light footed while exploring, but when you do find something (jotunn, etc), you're supposed to drop down some wisp lights and a portal.

Turn off the wisp, don the belt, and you're ready for harvesting.

So, it kinda makes sense to me now.

Edit: Of course, this still wouldn't work for metal.

Right from the mod description page:
This mod lets you equip multiple items designated as "Utility" type items at once.
You can set the maximum number of utility items in the config file (default 5).
Which Steventirey had already pointed out prior.

It is literally a semantic argument over terminology.

I placed the wisp lights without the wisp light equipped. This spaces them closer together so if any get broken the pathway can still be seen. Which then allows me to swap to the belt to carry anything heavy considering it is rare to be able to use the cart in Mistlands.

I would be more interested in mounting wisp lights on the boats. I drive the longboat backwards in reverse just so I am able to see @#$% BEFORE I run into it.

Although I am kind of glad you can only equip one at a time because otherwise I would be running around with all three equipped and wasting what little inventory space I have.

I usually avoid the long boat like the plague. It's just too unwieldy to navigate through narrow passages. Actually too unwieldy anywhere.

Karve FTW! ;)

I just found a beautiful region in the Mistlands with NO mist and a mine! Need to take a screenshot and post it here.

Edit: Here's the screenshot:

Well that is the weird thing, the longboat is much better when you drive it backwards when you can see with the wisp light. You also seem to forget going full sail allows you to retreat/reverse VERY quickly.

I loved Karves too but I stopped using them in Mistlands because if you have one seeker land on it then it sinks. A gjalli only needs to shoot it like twice for it to sink. Having your ship sunk means you will most likely drown or you are stranded.

Then of course the whole thing about Karves being banned form Ashlands...
electricdawn Aug 3, 2024 @ 4:57am
That is true. The karve is easily wrecked, but so far, I managed to get by. The reverse thing is pretty cool, I might give that one a try.

And yeah, Ashlands is different thing. I think, once you established some foothold in Ashlands, you're simply supposed to forget about the boat anyway. At least that's what I've read here in the forums. Never been there myself. ;)
adritheonly Aug 3, 2024 @ 5:41am
I finally got comfortable with the longboat and then Ashlands happened. TBH sailing in that was no fun at all (difference between driving a 1ton and 10ton truck) but I have decided to use it more so that I can figure it out since the North update will probable necessitate me having to use a new seed and do Ashlands again.
