Early game fire spreading, radius for safe campfire?

Started an immersive run and discovered that a 2x2 area is no longer a safe placement for campfires by burning down half my starting shack, lol.

Does anyone know of the 'safe' distance for early campfires placed indoors or adjacent to early wooden buildings?

About the middle of a 4x4 area until you can build out of stone

Thanks, so seems like exterior fire pit until black forest and then Viking pit house until swamp.

I always do exterior campfire and just continuously replace it until it gives me the resting bonus.
