Could use some help with identifying a mod.
Currently running my Valheim with a modpack from the Thunderstore: https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/TeamVendingMachine/Vending_Machine_Modpack_2_Electric_Boogaloo/

The issue I'm currently facing is randomly, my damage will be astronomical. Using a baseline club, sometimes I'll strike for the expected single digits, but for swathes of time instead it hits for 60+. I'll cut trees in a single strike, a flint axe hitting for 200+. My antler pick dealing 90+ on the copper node. Heck, I even 1-shot a troll with a crude bow for over 1k damage.

Thing is, it's not even constant, as sometimes it goes away for a few minutes only to return when I die or log back in. I can't tell if there's some hidden keybind that's turning on super mode or some glitching compatibility issue with all these mods. I've dug through the list, but nothing I'm seeing has it listed as a feature.

Or is it a feature of the custom world modifiers? I did reduce the skill penalty for dying, does it increase your damage for awhile?

Any assistance would be great, thanks for even reading!

There's only one way to find out, and it's the hard way.

Since this is an IMMENSE mod pack, I would recommend doing the following:
1. Remove HALF of your active mods.
2. See if the problem goes away.
3a. If NOT, goto step 1.
3b. If YES, put back HALF of the removed mods.
4. Repeat until the culprit has been found.

Although I would first remove your complete BepInEx installation to make sure your Valheim works correctly. There's an easy way to get BepInEx completely out of the equation on Windows, just move the file "winhttp.dll" out of the Valheim folder. This is the hook that allows Valheim to be modded.

Once you made sure your vanilla Valheim works as intended, you can return winhttp.dll to the Valheim folder and follow the procedure outlined above.

Good luck!

So, took your advice a bit differently, and changed my Thunderstore profile to a different modpack I had used a few days prior. Then I messed up and logged into that same character/world instead of doing a test one. My whole building fell apart, missing supporting structure pieces from a mod no longer active.

But hey, damage was normal, lol.

I'll do some more testing, and probably restart again. Good ol restartitis. Thanks, and good luck too!

I saw a thread recently about someone having a mod with weird settings where you would do 100x damage when "rested".
Could this be your issue?

That may just be it, as I was running around for awhile in a new world with the same modpack thinking it was a weird glitch. Only for me to sit in a fresh base while I went pee, came back to my character rested and doing that 100x damage.
Any recollection of that thread? I'll try searching for it, see what I can find. Thanks Lorska!

Alright! You had it on the dot. The mod in question is ComfortTweaks by Smoothbrain, and the troubling config portion is as follows:
## How much Damage you do while rested. 1 is 1x, 2 is 2x etc
# Setting type: Single
# Default value: 1
# Acceptable value range: From 1 to 100
Damage % = 10

In other words, when rested, we be given 10x damage, which I imagine is an accident. The modpack creator probably tweaked it, hoping to give a slight edge of 10% damage boost, not 1000%.

Thanks again Lorska!
