Drakes hit like 215 on the wolf
Just saw a grayling til 1/4 of my no star wolfs health in 1 hit
Drakes can do a lot of damage on unstarred stuff :( Tamed (with a mod), they are unfortunately useless.
I recommend breeding tamed wolves in a covered pit on the mountain till you have 4, and only then try to take 2 of them down the mountain. Take the shortest route to the easiest surrounding terrain thats available. Avoid swamps at all costs. Run the proposed route alone first to clear any drakes or golems along the way so its safe for the wolves, and once you've cleared it go get the wolves immediately to minimize respawn chances. This way if something bad happens you still have 2 back in the covered pen to breed from rather than having to start all over again. Make sure the pit is too deep for a golem to strike them, and make sure the roof is fully covered and you leave the door closed.
I personally make a second pit just far enough that they dont interfere with each others breeding cap and move the 2 adults from the first pen into it immediately after the second cub is born and start breeding them there too. Two pens is extra safety on your backups, and its faster meat and hide production which you may need/want.
