Crafting tables and "craftable area"

So i'm new to the game and i might have missed some infos.
Please don't spoil me, i'm enjoying it so far :)

So i wondered why the crafting tables allow us to craft ony on a portion of the map while you can buil numerous of crafting tables and basically craft on huge areas.
Or even just replace it wherever you want while you go further away from the place you started.

Wouldn't be way easier in term of gamer experience to just let us craft in way larger areas or maybe just being able to expand the area we can craft onto ? (costing some ressources maybe Idk)
The base one is pretty small in my opinion.

I mean, i find it annoying to buils crafting tables, detroy it and rebuild it again (or buil multiple ones) just to expand the area, especially that they need roof if we need to repair tools.

For example i've built a bridge accross a river, then a dock and i needed three of them.
Considering that the crafting can be pretty frustrating sometimes this adds up to it.

So is there a smoother way or maybe a patch in the pipes that will help with that ?

I have workbenches right behind my stake walls, so I can just run around the perimeter and repair them. The workbenches are covered up by very small huts, so they don't stick out too much like a sore thumb. The hut is just large enough to cover the workbench completely.

Cool I didn't know about the workbench stopping enemy spawns, I usually destroy the ones I used after finishing my building if it didn't make sense to have one.

Dozens of base facilities do this but the workbench is cheap, easy, has upgrades and most importantly displays its area of effect. https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base
