Valheim

Are Lox meant to be useless companions?
Riding them is barely faster than sprinting on foot
They have 1000 HP but die in 3 hits to basically everything in the Plains biome.
Even outside the Plains biome, where enemies deal 30 damage max, they will die of attrition because they only regen 0.6 hp every few seconds.
They do not come with any star variants, so improving them and their drops is impossible.

I tried to find some mods that would improve them like making them faster but haven't found anything other than one that gives you an evolving Lox. Even just better health regen and more movement speed would be good enough to make riding them less of a chore.

They heal when you feed them. That requires dismounting and carrying cloudberries though.

The main issue is while you are riding it everything is considered a sneak attack. I watched deathsquitos do like 200 damage to them.

I use them for deforestation, nothing generates wood like a herd of lox

200? I've seen 330+! I tend to have cloudberries for that reason, but it's difficult to even get it to eat, but when it does, it barely heals any amount of health either.

I just posted about the healing bug and other mechanics... 2 times I saw a lox eat and basically full heal from very low health. The last time which partially made me lose it, was it healed NOTHING when it ate.

I second the deforestation comment. Better than Paul Bunyan

Yeah the damn sneak attack pisses me off. I wish they'd make armor for it and be able to curb aggressiveness or SOMETHING... otherwise it's just half useless to venture into taming loxes. Fun tho.

I also don't understand why tame loxes get attacked by deathsquitos, where before they were tamed none of them cared.

Yeah, I know, factions... but hey, it's still stupid.

Thats the spirit that is needed for lox and smiliar creatures. I´m in the same boat.

Tames a pretty much useless unless you use them for food. It's another thing that has to be improved in this game.

They have no self-preservation at all. They will run into fires, aggro to charge anything and everything, damage your belongings and pen, can't eat anything you don't pick for them - wolves are the only exception as they will eat the meat dropped from most kills.

You can't put armor on them or train them to do anything.

I've mostly given up on tames. They are just a meat source.
