Also fwiw Root Fang with Frost Arrows are really helpful, really good strong combo.
You can vine lock them down, & can at least slow them down if they don't get vined first. If they do get vined (immobilised) they are sitting ducks for a few seconds you can plink away at. Otherwise melee options would be Frostner & Mistwalker & shield, Black Metal or better.
Another option you could try is to climb land spires (the really steep ones) and plink away at it from up top where it can't reach.
Another bow you could use that is really cheap to make is Spinesnap seems to be a good option also, does damage tick on Morgens & other mobs, maybe try that too.
Whatever you used to combat You are being hunted will serve you well in Ashlands.
The lunge is the hardest to stun on, but it is possible, more times than not I'll get punted but not hurt, so make sure you're not standing with your back to lava.
Stun them from their arm swings & bounce (parry just as/just prior to them landing) and you'll keep them in place, get a couple of hits in (only two) and then wait for the next attack to parry it again, rinse, repeat, loot.
Once I figured this out they became trivial - however dealing with the other enemies at the same time is challenging, I'd almost suggest ignoring (but keep an eye on) the Morgen until you've dealt with everything else - mostly because the other things are interested in eating your face, not dancing your face off :)
You can use their weakness to lightning in order to shorten the fight (Stormstar or Thundering Nidhögg)
actually reading the post before answering would be kind of helpful. they specifically said the do NOT play mage.
When this happens to me, I drop all pretense of actually fighting, and just dodge everything, moving in circles so as not to trigger more spawn points. The morgen and valk both friendly fire, so after a bit of dodging, they will be the only things left on the field, and both will have hurt each other. Easy pickings for plenty of loot.
Seems like the Morgen ignore all that :p
i had 2 morgens * and 1 normal morgen hot on my ass this morning
