Valheim

How long is the mistlands grind. My joy is fading.
I don't hate the biome, especially with the feather cape but my God the grind to get maxed gear for me and my wife is insane. I finally got all the cores and now I'm seeing how much eitr I need for all the upgrades and it's insane. The sap is fine but finding enough soft tissue is incredibly taxing. Lest we forget the 9 fragments.

Once you have the cores, the hard part is done.

For soft tissue look out for the black skeletons with skulls. You can find most soft tissue there. And to mine it qucikly, try to dig the skull free and open it near the bottom. Mine the soft tissue from the lowest point.
If none of the soft tissue in the skull is connected to anyting else (ground, overlapping rocks or ancient armors/swords), it will all break down at once.
Carry all you need to build a portal with you and whenever you find a skull, take the time to at least empty it.
You can mark the spot on the map if you want to mine the black marble later.

Also, keep some extra black cores in stock. 1 to 3 should do. For later uses.

Seriously if the mat grind gets you down, X2 or x3 your loot and halve the time, so you only need to do it the same amount to fully gear one toon. Once you are done, drop it back to x1 if you want. If you are worried that this breaks everything else (like finding more cores etc, then don't pick them up or turn them into coal. Solves the problem, and who else cares or is affected?

One other thing I did do was reset the ravens so they appeared whenever a new skull was found, helped stop me running past them in the mist, I hear that sound, I stop and look for the yellow exclamation mark and drop a portal nearby. Annoying for 10 mins but did help me find them, particularly during Gjall combat where I tend to kite a bit and are looking for ticks and the Gjall.

I think the worst thing about the mist is how much it inflates exploration time. even when you can see, you're sort of rolling dice to see if you can find resource spots, but the mist makes it so you just miss them more often without adding any real fun..

Fishing yields soft tissue. You can cheese it with catch and release.

I think the best thing about the mist is that it forces you to change the way you approach the zone, which is a really interesting way to do it. it forces you to walk around and listen and explore like a roomba. idc if it takes me 1 hour or 10 hours to explore a zone, it makes no difference to me as long as i'm having fun.
i love being a roomba.

I actually went to like 10 total mines and found 6black cores for 7 of them and then the last 3 had like 5 each. The fragments I'm only 7 of 9.

The problem is I feel like I *have to max level* and I just spent eitr on mage equipment which I'm not sure is for me (getting one shot is not my favorite hobby.)

set to 3x drops and dont look back. i am a big booster of this game but will never play on anything other than 3x drops again. life is too short and the game is still rewarding.

Yeah, I'm on a private server with friends. So far, with every boss, we fight it one time per player, so that each player can get a set of the boss rewards / drops separately. (And we usually do that all in one night.)

However, with Mistlands, we're talking 9 fragments per player... and that's a lot of fragments when the dungeons are kinda hard to find / spread out...and they're only dropping 1 or 2 each.

It's taking FOR-EVER. And I sense we're getting bored, because most of us have our equipment maxed-out for the zone.

I think I'm going to go read-up-on the Queen fight and rewards...and see if there's some loophole. I just don't want one or two people getting the rewards and being able to craft more stuff / start prepping for Ashlands, while everybody else gets left kinda "stuck" for fair amount of more time.

Bosses only drop one trophy per kill, but the progression items like Wishbone from Bonemass, Antler from Eikthyr.... etc will drop for every player present at the fight. We just fought bonemass again last night and received 3 wishbones., one for every person close to the fight.

The loophole is that you only need one seal breaker because it's not a consumable. Y'all can share the key or use the same arena to fight the queen again; (each location only needs to be unsealed once).

Perhaps not with your current seed, but if you use a random seed in the world generator[valheim-map.world] the left keys can illuminate where the infested mines and jotun skulls can be found. This won't tell you how many cores or sealbreaker fragments are in those mines but it can give you a sense of the population density for a given part of the Mistlands. Folks have used this to answer their own question regarding the population of sunken crypts in the swamps or the number of fuling totems and Yagluth vegvisir in the Plains. And if you like finding the ingredients for refined eitr in the Mistlands you will love locating enchanted gemstones in the Ashlands.

mist lands is where i turned my difficulty down all the way and gave resource gathering a small boost. just establish a small farm and collect what you need for the boss then gtfo. warning it gets worse. ashlands is just terrible. same thing. turn you difficulty down all the way. turn resources up and get what you need and never go back.
