Dyrnwyn need a serious buff...
You have to find 3 fragments all around Ashland, kill a mini boss 2 stars and all this for what ? a sword that is less good than Nidhögg the Thundering ?? Give it something to make it better ... i don't know maybe more range ? or attack speed, stagger ? anything ... It even has less stagger than Nidhögg the Thundering because lightning element count toward stagger damage.

All true. However, I consider it an investment that may pay dividends in the Deep North. Mistwalker was very good in Mistlands but look how effective it became in Ashlands. We could probably have predicted that its frost and spirit damage would pay dividends in the land of fire and undead charred. And we are heading to the land of ice and potentially a land of continuous darkness. A fire sword may come in handy.

anyone who believes 10 fire dmg will be helpful in deep north needs to check simple math values. the lighting sword will stay better and you spend your limtied gems on something actually useful.

even if the enemy is very weak to fire the lighting sword does STILL outperform dynwyrn. tested.

its a lost cause in its current state. itll never be useful. not now. not in deep north.

its a trophy item like hildir stuff. cosmetical side acitivity. they just put it in the game because players want it to not disappear like the trader ship.

and for the record : it already got buffed on its slash dmg during ptb. it has less fire dmg than the original dynwyrn had btw.

unless it gets buffed in some way itll stay useless. just forget about it for now.

oh and another reason why itll stay useless is multiplayer. since you can also ever make 1 dynwyrn per gameworld.

In British myth Dyrnwyn is one of the 13 treasures of the island of Britain. The fire was mostly cosmetic and only ignited when the sword was drawn by a well-born man. The owner always offered it to anyone that wished to use it but because of that peculiarity everyone always rejected it.

In game its mostly cosmetic. The way it is is pretty thematic to the myth.

No argument there. Still, I want to have hope. Forlorn? Probably. But hope nonetheless. :Khappy:

stay positive it has more slash DMG than other sword.

Fire animation is annoying tho

I like the sword but it needs minimum 25 fire damage on craft & 5 more per upgrade at least. Minimum. Buff please I love using swords too much.

Yes; would be much less annoying without the flames and just a hot glowing metal

But my biggest hope is that Valheim doesn't go the way of KSP2. If you think some of the posts in this forum are depressing, take a look over there.

It totally needs to be buffed - or we can use it as a material to craft an even more powerful weapon suited for the deep north.

It is apparently a sword that was in the game way back before it was put on Steam in early access. Its inclusion in the ashlands seems to be as more of a throwback for players from those early testing stages that missed the sword than as something they wanted to have balanced functionality.

So the hardest sub quest in the game would be to unlock a useless sword ? I really think they should buff it to be better than the reg sword at least from Ashland.

they wont do that. they want you to use nidhogg which was newly made for this update. dynwyrn is the same model it has always had singe early access release.

there is nothing they can do to make it useful currently. and you can take bets on it staying that way. the reason is simple : deep north will have an actual new weapon. its the final chance for swords to get a dual wield option aswell.

Deep North may have the very dry atmospheric conditions that make static electrical discharge a constant problem. Perhaps the inhabitants have developed immunity to electrical damage as a result and we may have to resort to the long-neglected Yagluth power until we get to craft some kind of grounding wire. Still, @Nerevar is usually correct on these things so Drynwyn is probably going to just be an adornment. A nice one though.

It does feel like a lot of effort to find 3 fragments scattered all around Ashland, fighting 2 stars near each of the fragment seal, having to kill a boss 2 stars, using 3 blood gems (13 in total when we will be able upgrade the table) just for a cosmetic sword with no use and no transmog system either. It really does need a buff with everything they implemented for it ... As soon as i found the first fragments i was hyped... thinking i was crafting a legendary sword, only to be disapointed to find out my current sword was stronger.
