Home basement... underwater?
It is a common practice to make a basement under your home so that you can place all of the "support" devices (like anvils) under the floor to keep the building a bit neater around the benches.

But I'm building a home over shallow water. So it would be convenient to place the basement underwater even if placing those devices is a bit tricky.

Is it possible? Maybe after placing a floor underwater, 2. 3 or 4 meters down?

Use the half walls and lift your floor up 2 meters if you need more room, but it should work. I have all my bench upgrades clustered under the floor and then copies around for decorations.

Cool, so there is no problem placing items underwater :)

Dont think you can without a mod

I managed to place support beams of wood and stone walls deeper underwater for dock. Was only possible with Q and E toggling.

Depends on how deep it is, really. You can't place anything while swimming so the limit is how far down you can reach while staying above water.
About 8-12 meters deep is pretty doable with corewood poles though if you need some extra support for a dock or something.

Also some crafting stations can't be placed in any depth of water iirc. They need a dry floor.

If you building with stone or marble you can also hide stuff in the walls by removing the wall placing item there then replacing the wall.

Thanks. It looks like the only solution for me is going to be raising the ground under my structure and actually put my basement above the water level, just make sure the ground under my structure is not visible so that it is still surrounded by water.

And no... I don't have stone bricks yet, I just restarted (to have something to do after the latest update broke the mods) and still in the Meadows (barely crossed into the Black Forest at this stage).
