I can make a Stone Oven, but can't use it until I get to the Mistlands???
So, we have played several times prior to the Mistlands update. We started over and got to the point when we could finally make a stone oven and pots and pans to upgrade our kitchen. We were all excited to make higher quality food like lox meat pie and fish wraps until we found out we can't make bread dough until we find marble in the Mistlands and make a mortal and pestle. What's the point in being able to build an oven if we can't even use it until after we beat Yagluth and/or discover the Mistlands (which requires high quality food!!!). Ugh, so frustrating and disappointing. We've always been able to make Lox meat pie and such prior to the Mistlands update, so I don't know why that update would change the food structure!

Bread dough is made from a level 4 Cauldron. That means you need a spice rack, butcher's table, and pots and pans.

The level 4 Cauldron upgrade (Mortar and Pestle) requires Black Marble to make. So Ruby is right, no bread dough without getting the marble first.

I have to give the devs credit for being very clever in getting you to really embrace going into and mastering (or at least surviving) the next biome on your progression list. That frequently means having to get something from that biome that you absolutely need to do well in the biome...so there is no totally "safe" way to take baby steps in new biomes. They WANT you to feel the terror!

This reminds me of having to find enough copper in the Black Forest without feeling safe around trolls.

You need a level 4 cauldron to make bread dough. Crafting stations start at level 1. So having 3 upgrades reaches level 4. Spice rack (level 2), Butcher's Table (level 3), Pots and Pans (level 4), and Mortar and Pestle (level 5).

tc youre completly wrong on this. next time before you complain make sure you arent doing something wrong yourself first. you clearly did there as the upgrade structure wasnt changed with mistlands at all. it just got another level added. ashlands will do the same probaly unless they add a new cooking pot type entirely which given only 2 biomes left aint likely.

the cauldron has 5 levels. and 4 upgrade stations currently since it starts at 1 and not at 0.

bread and any plains tier food requires a level 4 cauldron to make. level 5 is mistlands tier food which is current max till ashlands.

cauldron : black forest unlock. level 1
1st upgrade : spice rack from swamp via turnips. level 2.
2nd upgrade : butcher table from silver in mountains. level 3.
3rd upgrade : black metal to make pots and pans. level 4.
4th upgrade : marble for mortar and pestle. level 5.

bread and plains food needs level 4. as you can see. you are missing an upgrade from earlier you simply didnt bother to get. hence why no bread doughs.

that beeing said the order of upgrades doesnt really matter only what you need to get them.

getting some marble is STUPID easy. no combat required. just some sailing around a biome until you find any marble structure. not difficult to do but also not required as you can see clearly.
