Most of the people still prefer vanilla.
As to making mining easier... well there's always the drop rate settings in world modifiers, although that is a bit overkill if you really only want to make mining easier. For bronze age I'd highly recommend TripleBronze mod which brings Valheim bronze age metallurgy more in line with real world metallurgy turning 2 copper and 1 tin into 3 bronze rather than 1.
For iron age.. this might seem an odd choice but there's a mod that allows upgrading of antler pickaxe (also throws in stone pickaxe for digging earth only). That will make digging scrap piles faster without resorting to less convenient to repair options such as metal pickaxes. For silver though you'll still need the iron pickaxe.
Of course, I haven't dug through all the mods so might have missed one that more directly addresses the mining situation.
Never mind, I think I know.
- Recycle N Reclaim [thunderstore.io]: support deconstructing items --> is in line with the logic of the game where deconstruction of buildings is possible --> less mindless grinding for resoures
- PlantEverything [thunderstore.io]: Plant berries, carrots and other things to get their seeds and make a garden --> makes sense as berries can be replanted in real life
- Plant Easily [thunderstore.io]: Quality Of Life (QOL) mod to plant what you have in a grid instead of manually trying to place stuff in a grid
Those are what I use with my friends and it's not OP, just makes the game more enjoyable
This behaviour is the reason Thunderstore has 1000's more mods for Valhiem than scummy Nexus.
'Thousands more'? Nexus has about 2040. Thunderstore about 2400. And many of the mods on thunderstore are just people reposting the mods from Nexus, and often the most up-to-date version is only on nexus.
That said, I don't like nexus or thunderstore but use both. One thing I do like about nexus is there is a discussion section for each mod. I haven't found that on thunderstore if it exists. I install all mods manually so don't care about whatever mod launcher they're trying to push.
Agree 100%
With that said, this game is disappointing without mods at this stage, especially given that over 3 years have passed and hardly anything was added at all. It is pathetic really. Yet with mods, you can at least customize your quality of life and add a ton of extra content to mess around with in ways that people never thought of.
