you can breed them anywhere. and here is the major advantages of this one :
items used in endgame health food recipes? yes.
2 star tameable? yes.
rideable ? yes.
lays eggs you can teleport everywhere? yes.
can egg hatched ones have stars? yes.
oh an a 2 star has TEN TIMES the health of a 2 star wolf.
all others tames are now obsolete. aside chickens for the feathers maybe. thier meat is... useless now. devs didnt use it again at all. a shame.

I think that wolves are the most common enemy type in the mountains, so you encounter them more compared to asksvins. I made my trap inside a conquered fortress, that I noticed had quite a few asksvins spawn in the area. Almost no enemies around to bother while I was waiting for the taming process.
