If you have not defeated bonemass then the hardest unexpected event in game ( you're being hunted ) can't happen, that's a plus for you . Too many variables, like whats your raid setting . In general it's a big no lol
and AVOID NIGHT at all costs. you wont make it at night.
once inside the cave just make sure to face cultists.
getting the trophy for the headpiece might be stupid hard as its pure luck to get it and cultists are very limited spawns in there which will not respawn. so maybe forget the headpiece. rest is totally possible.
that beeing said : dont get used to the rippers. they are the only fist weapons in the game and its not likely that will change anymore now. so they become outclassed completly by other weapons rather fast. they really suck in mistlands as most enemies resist 50% of thier dmg.
But you can snipe a few and sneak your way to a cave , that's possible i guess
My usual set up for starting the mountains is troll armor, the best heavy helmet I can get, atgeir and bow, at least until I get silver going.
assuming you are playing vanilla, the amount of hair you need to make the wolf suit is really high. unless you just want to make the claws. even then, you will need a lot of claws.
bottom line is i dont see a lot of advantage in going for the gear early.
wolf suit and claws are legit, though. they are viable in the mistlands. you can kick a 1-star seeker as an opener and stagger it, and you can chain stagger a regular soldier by kicking it in the butt (ride its back, then jump off during the ground slam). havent tested in ashlands yet, thinking the wolf suit has fire res, not a bad choice. just need to watch for starred enemies, as they could one-shot you due to low armor.

The best defense for mountain is a full offence. Ever since they change things with block and parry with mechanics tied to HP and such.
Play safe: Day time. Snipe wolves. Don't bother parrying/blocking and It isn't recommended dodging. Don't use all your stamina cause they attack and move so fast. Use the poke on two-hander or swing for multi. I think stunning happens if you hit hard enough based on targets HP (?), so upgrading might be needed.
Bonemass buff is freaking godly. Use this when two wolves or more.
Drakes are easy enough. Time your roll (towards them) or just try to hide behind things.
Golems are a waste of time. I assume the majority can't fight these melee. Unless you want crystal axe then farm then later.
Really all you need to do is make an outpost. The outpost can easily be made with stone cutter bench (2 iron mainly). Hopefully you brought stuff for the metal bench and maybe upgrades. Find silver then make T1 silver. It really isn't hard too move around during the day and make a pit around the silver.
Mining silver is really easy when you dig pretty much as deep as you can. Then you save massive amounts of time digging at the edges of your pit. Once you got the silver fully expose and floating then it should all blow up once you break a piece. Don't forget to collect all that stone too.
Copper mines are dumb, but you do the pit thing for it also. Saves so much time. I can't figure out how to blow it up, only small sections do. It just wastes time trying to blow it up.
I will even go to the plains for the lux leather and meat. Don't like the wolf cape. Wish there was one without the head. Also wish we could have a fenris one (black fur) also without head.
Dev's just lacking taste clearly.
Well, that was also to help anyone. I do that outpost thing basically every location i will farm. Then i don't need to haul so much back and can use them right away.
