Trouble planting Ashvine

When I try to plant Ashvine, it says it needs a nearby wall. So I build a nearby wall. Then either the wall is too far away (in which case it still says it needs a nearby wall) or the wall is too close (in which case it says it needs room to grow). Is there a sweet spot? is it too small? If I plant outside of the shield, it says it's too hot.

I have yet to trigger a "plant" command with the cultivator. How do you do it?

You don't need to plant the ashvine in the Ashlands, but the wall must be outside a building or a Fortress. Just cultivate the ground and plant it, than it will work.

Do you get seeds?

Build it next to an ashwood wall. You can make the grausten wall, and put the ashwood wall inside it and grow it like that too. But i had it want to grow on and ashwood wall.

What do you plant them with? I have collected berries but no seeds and my cultivator gives no option to plant them.

They will drop seeds, it might take a while though. I get around 3-4 vineberry seeds when they do drop though. That's 3-4 seeds on normal harvest amount.

Thank you so much i had tried it with just the grausten wall alone in field and it was not working. But placing the ashwood wall along the grausten one let them grow easily.

I am growing mine along a stake wall in the meadows. Carrots, onions, and turnips on the inside. Grapes on the outside......

I was confused by this too. I had only looted berries and didn't realize the vines also drop seeds. Looting berries will unlock a lot of recipes but it's the seeds (which drop from the same plant less frequently) you need to harvest to unlock the ability to plant vines.
