Hardest Settings Possible
Hello!
I wonder if anyone tried to play solo on hardest difficulty settings possble, and if yes then how far they managed to progress?
By "hardest possible" I assume this:
- one life; death means death, end of the game;
- max monster damage;
- min player damage;
- lowest resources rate;
- no portals;
- no map;
- most often raids;
- strictly single player;

I tried this settings just to see how long it will last.
First attempt: less than an hour - missed boar's chomp, staggered, couldnt react in time to second hit, death.
Second attempt: about 4 hours, couldnt notice skeleton archer from behind a tree, got one-shotted through block.
Third attempt: two RL days so far.
I have no idea how I'm going to proceed. Everything hits way too hard, and those are regular mobs, not mentioning starred or bosses.
I managed to kill 1-star skeleton though: made a tree house and shot the skeleton down from above. A mere bone is an extremely valuable, its a whole expedition to get one piece!
I dont see how melee is an option, I dont know how I'm going to get Surtling Cores from Burial Chamber where skeletons spawn in packs, not to mention ghosts.
But I learned few things.
Senses are the key, if I see or hear anything before they notice me - I have chance to retreat and fight on my own terms.
Hoe is friend, it marks land and can build indestructible walls.
Dont build more than 2 of workbench and campfire, any 3 of those counts as a 'base' and is eligible to raid. I dont need bed, since I live only one life.
Awlays, Be, Fed. Conserve stamina, you'll need it to run away.
Dont touch Trolls, sneak wont help you much and armor wont neither. Run away, dodge roll, side step. Dont block more than once, they hit way too hard to block - you'll get staggered and killed.
Its ok to spend few days gathering meat, chopping trees to clear view, wait for bees to collect honey. Dont rush, dont get bold, you're less than an ant - even greydwarf baby from Meadows can rip you apart in just two hits.

So whats your story or thoughts about this?

The time sink is the point, for sure it's not a blanket rule

Hardest possible settings can involve hardest possible playthrough which would involve no map spoilers

The worst part about doing immersive+ is the timesink, i spent two weeks of gameplay trying to find elder for me to cave in and look up my seed to find that he was only near mistlands and didn't spawn anywhere near the center of the map. Otherwise, Great fun! Only advice for completing something like no death with hardest settings is just experience. Also if you are truly committed im sure there was a challenge run hosted by the valheimdevs for this exact thing. Granted it was so sweaty and min maxed to the extreme that it didn't seem like it was fun but watching any of those videos could give you some pointers. I tried permadeath and got to plains but died by getting gang ♥♥♥♥♥♥ by 3 different fuling villages. After that i just stopped doing permadeath since you just waste insane amounts of time being anxious every second of gameplay and it just doesn't make it fun at that point. Although immersive+ is fun without permadeath. Only way i play the game now.

Okay, it's over.
Died stuck between two small rocks and could not avoid log troll swing.
3+ weeks down the drain, couldnt even gear up for Eikthyr due to low droprate as per world settings.
Not sure if Immersive+ is worth the timesink - one error, one accident - and all is over. Mobs hit too hard, blocking is worthless, they stagger all the time no matter the food, so we either dodge ALL THE TIME or die.
Not worth the time sink.

I won't try this. As soon as perma-death enters the equation, I feel like its become a no-holds-barred game where you can, and should actively use every exploit and cheese you can find. That in turn feels cheap and unrewarding. Turn off perma death and yes, I could succeed at such a world without too much trouble. I suspect every fight would be solved with a ranged weapon & terrain manipulation.
No portals and low resources is challenging at first and later, once all the bosses are down and you just want to build something nice, its just extra tediousness.

It is extremely unlikely one can manage to avoid being hit even once all the time and still progress and kill bosses, and even single hit puts one in extremely vulnerable staggered position when next hit means certain death. Considering all sort of random events happening all the time, its practically impossible without semi-cheating or abusing mechanics, which in turn leave sore feeling of not winning honestly. There is way too much unpredictability and uncontrollability that can go wrong and end the run, just like these two stones that didnt let me pass inbetween which led to one-hit death, despite I had best armor and food possible at this stage of the game.
Whomever wants to try - be my guest and best of luck. You will need a galactic amount of it.

On paper, all you can do is dodge and position yourself properly, no armor, no shield, Sneaking with Knives, Spears, and Bows recommended, engage enemies 1v1 as much as possible, and only eat stamina food to maximise your actions.

In game, i die.

I applaud your efforts though, the challenge is quite intimidating. Maybe if the challenge wasn't so extreme it could be fun. Just the damage amp is crazy enough!

permadeaths, kaput ?.. not good for a game that takes weeks irl to build a character and world.

I last tried permadeath runs in FC primal and enjoyed. But there you need only 2-3 days of investment for completion. I recommend it, similar weapons and fight mechanics , survival. but no building.

I play valheim in very hard mode and death penalty almost to max, no boss portal. But after dying to Moder I had a series of deaths and rebuilding that changed the whole game, and took twice longer to gather silver and iron again without portals .. powered off PC and that was it

Permadeath technically does not exist, after you die the game does not delete your character and world.
One-Life Challenge is what we try out ourselves to see how far we can proceed.
