Krom question
What can it parry? I know the block value is pretty high for a sword but late game, one mistake and you're ♥♥♥♥♥♥ so I just want to know before I take any unnecessary risks

You should be able to survive at least one mistake. It doesn't matter what biome you're in, you're going to make mistakes.

That said, parrying depends on more than just the item that your parrying with, but I've had no problems running with Krom or Skoll and Hati without a shield. I think Mistwalker with a sheild is a better combination, or Skoll and Hati if you don't want to carry a shield, but you should do fine with just Krom that that's what you prefer.

parry max values:

himmin afl (better than average for mistlands-level two-hander) - 192
krom, demolisher, (normal mistlands-level two-hander) - 156
skoll, jotun bane, mistwalker (normal mistlands-level one-hander) - 144

skoll has a high parry multiplier but low block, but the total max is in line with a mistlands-level one-handed weapon (144), like mistwalker and jotun bane axe.

note that in prior biomes, the atgier weapons have average weapon block values for two-handers. e.g., iron sledge, battle axe, and iron atgier have the same parry max (84). mistlands is the first biome that differentiates the atgier in terms of block value.

in the mistlands, the himmin afl is tweaked to have superior blocking. unclear if this was in purpose. considering atgier type weapons are known for their offensive stagger from the secondary attack, the himmin afl doesnt really need to parry. its really the krom that needs better parry, in order to counterstrike.

I wouldn't use it if you don't want risking, depends on your game mode.

it's possibly the worst weapon made from eitr age. so very slow like a 2h baxe. It's very cool though to try. it's just raw slash pwr.

something like mistwalker is already much better in DPS, and u got a shield spot.

in my opinion the only useful 2hs in the game are ground smash hammers and aeitgrs. the skull and Haiti is obviously good too

agreed, i am not sure why they added a 2 handed sword when the battleaxe really needs more development. ashlands looks to have another 2 handed sword also.

i guess part of the appeal is that it doesnt need eitr, so it is lower tech.

The appeal is that it's the most powerful weapon in the game for raw damage output. Maybe Mistwalker can generate more DPS if that actually matters, but nothing else can output over 1000 damage in 1 hit AFAIK.

If they added frost damage like Mistwalker it could be a very viable weapon in Mistlands. As it is, it can kill trolls like nothing else in the game, but it's not as powerful as Mistwalker against Mistlands creatures.

I found it too slow against bugs. You can parry them with Krom, but they don't stay staggered for long, so you don't have much time to get your hits in. A faster weapon makes that a lot easier.

In the Valheim info and FAQ there is alink to a "block simulator and break points", and what you can parry depends on the Health you have at the moment and your Block skill, so it is easier to look there.
an exemple would be a 2 star troll. with skill 0 you need 220 HP to block it and 118 HP to parry it. now with 100 skill you just need 158 to block and 108 to parry.

Do you have a link for that? I'm not finding anything for "Valheim info and FAQ" or "block simulator and break points".

I have never noticed that topic!

Is that spreadsheet just for normal mode? I guess it shouldn't be hard to change it to calculate the values for hard/hardcore...
