wisp torches not working?
So the wiki says wisp torches clear the mist around them, but when i place them, no mist gets removed. Was there a patch that nerfed them or anything? The only thing that makes them useful for me so far is the fact that they are visible from very far away, so i can use them as beacons in a way. Am i doing something wrong though?

Their radius is pretty small.
But last time I used them (couple days ago) they were working just fine.

you just need to put down a grid about every 2 vikings tall across the area. Its honestly not very useful outside of keeping a fairly small campsite clear.

you should see the Mist retreat as soon as you drop the torch. turn your personal Wisp off when you place the torch so you can see the actual area, it is pretty small. if you use them to clear a base area you will probably need them on the ground and up on roof. the most useful thing about them is to show you where you have explored. you will probably want to turn build cost off because you'll need dozens of torches.

aww that sucks. yes i never turned my whisplight off so i probably just didn't see their small radius. Well if it is like this they are probably not useful at all but that's okay. I was just kinda hoping they would help me hunt rabbits because once you see them they are already alerted most of the time.

Instead of hunting hares yourself just put your base near the border of a MIstlands biome and pick up the meat and hides whenever you come home.
Doesn't really matter with what biome since even greydwarfes can manage to kill them.

Alternatively sharp stakes in natural tight spots are great for killing hares too. Also ballista don't care about the mist and wooden missiles are cheap.

Wisplights are completely useless in my opinion. They are so incredibly powerless, that I'm wondering why they were even implemented in the first place. This factor alone has pretty much ruined Foglands for me.

Mist comes in patches. While the radius of the wisplight is small, it can affect several patches when you put them up on the border area where two or more meet. Put one down, check where the border areas are, then put on down there, remove the old one. More space cleared per wisplight that way.

they only clear mist when you re beside that wisplight. move further away and it's just a blue light with mist

As others have said, the radius is small and somewhat spherical.

Keep in mind too that unfortunately peppering the lands with the torches too will potentially start to give you fps issues as well depending on your system and how many you slather across the landscape.

to hunt rabbits use the spiked barricade. place them around where rabbits are. the rabbits run into them and die.
