Do Lava Fields Destroy Gravestones?

I died in a lava field, and my gear appears to just be... gone?

This happened with me too when I died stuck in flametal ore while it was sinking, my gravestone wasn't there anymore when I got back. I had to restore a backup to retrieve my items

Flametal pillars are bugged and come back when you died during their sinking. Your grave stone is likely stuck inside the pillar if you died in the lava under the pillar. The bug is already in the tracker and marked for fixing.

As for lava fields destroying gravestones: has not happened to me so far.

I think it just didn't spawn. It's all just --gone--

Did the game crash after you died? Sometimes character and game world were not saved in the same intervals (though I think they might have fixed that), which could lead to a world a few minutes back (with e.g. no gravestone yet).

You can load a previous version of your character from the character selection.
