Skip "Resting" and just apply "Rested" when safe.
Having full stamina bar and no aggroed enemies nearby should skip having to wait for the buff. Logged into the game, wanting to continue building but feeling crippled and have to wait to play. Feels like waiting for an ad to pass to un-cripple.

You don't have to wait. There are still tasks you can perform while "resting" like making repairs, crafting arrows, managing inventory, or sleeping.

Outside, killing the last nearby mob and getting the resting buff before another hostile mob arrives can make the difference between winning and losing especially if you are still on mead cool down.

I could be wrong, but it seems like it applies faster if you sit (?).

Did you know that while "resting" you gain 300% stamina regen? Stick a fire and shelter down while mining and watch your stamina bar zoom up.

if you design your comfort area well all you have to do is sleep trough the night and it will apply rested instantly after the loading screen ends.

Playing after the gear is maxed out. No hostiles in sight, spawns disabled in a wide radius and we're focusing on gathering and using building materials. Inventory is well sorted. All that's left is to wait for the buff.

@jonnin
Just tested now, sitting doesn't affect resting time. It's a 20 seconds timer after the Wet debuff is gone. Good thinking though! Never crossed my mind.

@HamsterPants
We're aware of how Resting works. In fact, the fastest way to mine out a large ore/rock boulder is to leave it untouched and dig it out. Once it's floating, collapse it. During that digging, use the boulder itself as a roof for Resting and Rested.

@Nerevar
Sleeping is not always available. Even if it were, it's far from instant. It's just another thing to wait out before being able to play again. Like getting stunned on purpose.

Indeed it hasn't ever bothered me. I always have something to do while resting changes to rested. I don't complain about wind direction while sailing I just start tacking, it takes a bit longer but so does sailing irl. I don't complain about all the rain storms either. On days its raining I'll stay in base and smelt, build, plant, chop wood in my fenced in arbor, and tend tames. I don't even notice anymore.
