I guess that depends how close you are to the wolves, everything is easier in the meadows i havent played for a minute, but back a year ago just make sure you don't leave the area until its tame or it'll despawn on you so bring the meat and stuff you need, id set up a small base and then attempt to pen it in with lots and lots of fences, or dig a pit and fence it best you can.

Can be a pain but also very fun be careful :) and also if you can you can pen in another one preferably a 2 star but not necessary(just will breed 2 star babies more often) then you can breed them

Suggest having a pen ready in the mountains. They tend to de-spawn at daybreak so having them chase you down the mountain to your base may run up against that deadline. And be prepared to baby sit during the taming for the same reason.

Start the taming as soon as you can, I've had them despawn 5 times now, still don't have one, takes all the time to find them, Have a captive Gjall and a Valkrye, but still can't get a 2 star wolf, lol, good luck eh.

I remember now that what octobersky is right, i think the 2 stars only come out at night typically and tend to despawn when it turns daylight, and will despawn if you leave the area, but also i think you need to be far enough away that it calms down and actually eats, been a good year since i played but ive done it a few times anyway if either of you want a forever noob to come help waste some time with you trying to get some ill come try and help you guys get some

I set up a pen with stakewalls two walls thick and a simple hut next to it to chill in with a fire, a workbench and a portal in the mountains. Once I get two tamed I lead them back to my base or wherever I want them for further breeding. Never had any issues. Just takes waiting a few in game days.

In the past I've built a "tame shack" near the base of the mountain. I make it a double wall stone foundation with a nice air gap between layers. Usually about 8-10 meters high, with an iron gate if possible. Up top I build a lavish comfy base with all the amenities, fire, furniture, storage, torches, rugs, roof etc. I leave a third of the floor, walls and roof open.

I lure them into the base close the door , then throw a stack of meat down. Then I sit up top in a throne by the fire until they tame.

Bonus points if you can do this by finding a stone tower the game spawned then you only need to repair half of a building.

Always dug a pit for taming of wolves, lox and so on. It's way better and efficient.

I tame them near the mountain biome I find them in in an easier biome so I can afk there with the game alt-tabbed while I go do other stuff on my pc.

Last time I had 2 lower starred wolves with me near the taming hole to keep stray greydwarves off of me while I was afk and because wolves don't attack other wolves regardless of tamed or not. Feed the 2 star wolf so it starts getting tamed.

i think they'll de spawn in the meadows and i believe if you dont start the taming process before sunrise they'll de spawn as well.

i build a small cabin by the base of the mountain and dig a pit in the snow within eye site of the cabin. once i trap the wolf in there i just throw a stack of 20 boar meat in and sit idle facing them. should be tame after 2-3 in game nights.
