I assume the OP was going for "I am by no means the best builder in the world."
You can just ignore it (like I do), or build something from scratch, where you don't run into this issue. And, yes, like @Skuzzlebutt wrote, "Q" and "E" cycle through the different snapping points.
Building in Valheim is ace. I'm absolutely loving it, and once you got the hang on how to get to the right snapping point, I guess you might like it to. ;)
Also, sometimes (roofs especially) look like they don't fit exactly until you actually place them. And if I remember correctly the inner corner of the 26° straw roof does not fit perfectly on the surface. But from below it fits perfect.
Building needs a bit of practice, but it is really fun once you learnt it.
Yeah I have done that tried different spots, and it is so close but every time I put it down, it is just a hair lower then rest of roof, I do not get it. I just need it to go up a hair.
It should of been by no means am I the best builder in the world, but I like your point I am in single player. So, yes I guess I am the best builder in the world.
I've always found building scaffolding helps since you stand right next to it. . .but that can be just as tedious as arguing with it from the ground.
But I figured it out put a tiny one meter beam inside, and it gave me the snapping point I needed, to get corner level with rest of roof. Then deleted the one meter beam.
See I am the best builder in the world.
Congratulations !
My first crafting table is always built in front of a large tree, with a super-janky roof that doesn't snap together, and some side walls. Then I expand just a little bit to add my bed and a fire.
you might of been getting stuck on an adjacent snap point or you werent on the exact right spot it wanted you to be lol, or your character was in a bad position for where you wanted to attach it, something in the way that was not letting it sit right, however i 100% agree in general there are lot of silly things i was trying to put a bunch of stone pieces together to make a smooth surface because i found i was able to on a few pieces, after many hrs ive discovered im never going to get it how i want, there are visible lines all over the place and it ruins the look i was going for.
and trying to get in the exact right position to get a snap point, only to accidentally move past it and miss it trying to get again for 10min is very frustrating, and can make something super enjoyable into a painful experience or like you said something just doesnt look or want to sit right, or keeps going to another snap point last time i was on they had improved it somewhat from launch and when i was spending the majority of the time building pre mistlands and i appreciate them working on it, maybe its fixed even more now idk
i absolutely love the building aspect I have a vision of what i want and for the most part feel i can get there, but theres lots of room for improvement, glad they have the mods and console commands to make it a bit easier if you're all about building.
anyway glhf hope you enjoy the game at least 10% of the amount i do
