Finding bosses without using vegvisirs
Anyone ever tried it? I'm planning to, even if (and when) it takes forever to find the bosses.
Their having multiple summoning points helps, but the world is still massive and especially Black Forest is everywhere.

I've found all three Eikthyr locations (but not defeated him because I hate the dwarf raids and I don't need the rewards), and will soon set sail in search of the Elder unless he turns out to be where I can reach without sailing.

Possibly masochistic but I don't care. :steamhappy:

Had to find Yagluth manually in my first world. Took forever

I've done it without trying. It isn't too bad depending on the seed.
Yag is super easy since it is so large and can be seen from quite a distance. Normally find that one just by sailing around... out of 20 or so worlds I only found the ID location stone once.

I guess the hardest to me would be the swamp or mountains. Mountains is more about finding the right mountain. Swamp is rough due to the density of the clutter. Could get lucky and stumble upon them... had some bonemass locations right on the edge of a swamp and water and was easy to spot but that is hardly the norm.

Add in No Bow and No Portal and you are sorted :)

If you hit the info plaque /stone thingy at any boss location it will put it on the map.
Or do you mean another one?

Found all bosses by accident on one play through or another

Bonemass or yagluth (possibly also moder) will be tough, bonemass has a wide range of possible places as does yagluth, and finding moder’s altar in a blinding snow blizzard will not be fun either

Update: still looking for the Elder. I will be able to fully switch to swamp-tier foods before I find him, and get a full set of root armour too, at this rate. :lunar2019piginablanket:

Plains, Plains everywhere... I should probably head back towards the centre of the world, but I'm committed to heading (roughly) southwest for now until I get too close to the edge of the map.

I only play multiplayer with friends, sorry. As in, people I'm friends with irl.

You can create a new world to try the challenge in, though.

I did it! It took me 152 or so in-game days, but I discovered one of the Elder's altars rather close to my base and the world spawn.

The altar is where I am on the map:

Next up, Bonemass... but I don't need him for the wishbone. Just the power, eventually.

This sounds very interesting as it would mean more exploration of the world. In most of my games I only explore a tiny portion of the map by the time I kill the 5th boss. It would even be more masochistic if someone developed a mod that reduced the potential spawning points of bosses and the merchant down to 1. That would require a ton of sailing but then again sailing and chilling out on the boat is one of my favorite things to do in the game.

I applaud you, but I couldn't do it. :D I love exploring, even just to map out shorelines for fun, but I need to have speedy (for Valheim standards) access to important points for peace of mind.
