the huntsman's bow is worth having. it shoots better than the finewood bow and it has a lessened agro radius so it's tops for sniping things
Obsidian, then needle later have more punch
For wolves I actually don't use the bow at all. Instead I block them and strike immediately afterwards. Parry timing is easier for me if I don't try to see their attack but use their gnarl as an indicator when to block. This works better for me.
In case you want to try block&hit: Just don't use an axe for this. An axe is too slow, so in that case this doesn't work without a successful parry.
Also a fun thing to do with wolves: When you are being hunted, use a crystal battle axe, have stamina mead ready and stand on not too steep terrain. Wait for some to come. Hit the first one with the secondary attack, then wreak havoc with the primary.
They were the go-to arrow in Ashlands. Wonder how they will work in Deep North?
Fire weapons intuitively seem inclined to our next (maybe last) biome. Even though dyrnwyn is useful now to light up a dark corner, it may be the go-to weapon in Deep North.

Also, I've found I dont need to be very careful on the plains, so long as I keep away from the Lox and tarpits. But I imagine thats always the case. Ive conquered a tower already.
On a side note, do you HAVE to conquer the bat cave things? I dont want bat invasions, my base is quite fine without that forever more.
Yes, and obsidian is much easier to find and transport. I can kill a wolf in 2 shots with obsidian arrows and draugr fang bow. Fire arrows are still useful, but obsidian and frost arrows are great.
