Obsidian arrows in the Mountain region
Do the obsidian arrows work better on wolves than let's say iron arrows?

Wolves[valheim.fandom.com] have no weakness but can be injured with pierce damage and elemental poison damage from a draugr fang[valheim.fandom.com] bow. Ironhead[valheim.fandom.com] arrows deal 42 pierce damage. Obsidian[valheim.fandom.com] arrows deal 52 pierce damage.

Thanks so much October Sky. I just arrived in the mountains and have just a finewood bow. It seems to work wonderfully on the drakes with fire arrows, When I get to mine silver I can make a drauger fang. I am looking forward to that.

If you are wearing the Root chest piece you can venture carefully into the edges of the plains to harvest deathsquito needles to make needle arrows. I did that this time around and it made the mountain boss much easier.

if you found some iron arrows then fine, but NEVER make them. iron is used for too many other things to be making arrows with it. Obsidian on the other hand is much easier to get, so yes, go with obsidian.

the huntsman's bow is worth having. it shoots better than the finewood bow and it has a lessened agro radius so it's tops for sniping things

Unless it's something really tough I almost exclusively use obsidian arrows. Obsidian strikes the balance for me between powerful and easy to obtain.

Someone mentioned it. Never craft iron arrows. you need it for everything else.

Obsidian, then needle later have more punch

obsidian is easy to find and can be portaled so those arrows get good use the entire rest of the game

Each time I reach the mountains on a playthrough, I start with the poison arrows that I found in the swamp. It works quite good for the drakes, as I usually am not able to shoot them in one shot. So the poison can do it's work while the drake flies off and comes back again.

For wolves I actually don't use the bow at all. Instead I block them and strike immediately afterwards. Parry timing is easier for me if I don't try to see their attack but use their gnarl as an indicator when to block. This works better for me.
In case you want to try block&hit: Just don't use an axe for this. An axe is too slow, so in that case this doesn't work without a successful parry.

Also a fun thing to do with wolves: When you are being hunted, use a crystal battle axe, have stamina mead ready and stand on not too steep terrain. Wait for some to come. Hit the first one with the secondary attack, then wreak havoc with the primary.

frost arrows may be the best overall in later biomes. So keep enough freeze gland and obsidian

They were the go-to arrow in Ashlands. Wonder how they will work in Deep North?

typically obsidian belongs in your frost and poison arrows. And you should most definetly never ever use iron or bronze for arrows.

I haven't reached or stepped in mistland biom yet and yet to kill the 4th boss, but I think there should be something like better version of fire arrows with combination of tar. That would work wonders in deep north as you were speaking.

Fire weapons intuitively seem inclined to our next (maybe last) biome. Even though dyrnwyn is useful now to light up a dark corner, it may be the go-to weapon in Deep North.

Ive got lots of mozzy needles but dont have the recipe for needle arrows ... (pre mountain boss).
Also, I've found I dont need to be very careful on the plains, so long as I keep away from the Lox and tarpits. But I imagine thats always the case. Ive conquered a tower already.

On a side note, do you HAVE to conquer the bat cave things? I dont want bat invasions, my base is quite fine without that forever more.

Yes, and obsidian is much easier to find and transport. I can kill a wolf in 2 shots with obsidian arrows and draugr fang bow. Fire arrows are still useful, but obsidian and frost arrows are great.

How come you don't have recipe for needle arrow? I have it even before I have killed the 2nd boss. I think it's just needle, wood and feather and you need certain workbench upgrade.
