Completely unrealistic.
Best case scenario they partner with a company that already does server rentals just to put the "official irongate" label on it and increase the markup.
Multiplayer is fine as it is. This is a coop game, not mmo. Play with your friends and self organize. If you have no friends just take a chance on the discord. Sometimes you find bozos, sometimes great folks. It's called life. There isn't always a nanny around to make sure nobody is mean to you.
You started the thread buddy.
Not sure if other cloud platforms offer similar possibilities.
So there's that.
Multiplayer is not fine how it is.
I do not want to self organize.
I do not use Discord.
Its not called life, its a video game. I do real life in real life. I do not do it in video games.
So the only thing correct about your rant is that this is a coop game and not an MMO.
The last part about the nanny was just a personal poke at the OP. Your posts usually do not stoop to this level. I figure your just having a bad day.
Then play something else.
Playing a video game is part of life. Even more so when it's multi. You're playing with real people. Some will be nice, some will cheat, some will scam you, others will help.
I for one appreciate that irongate delivered a sandbox for multi. They're not trying to create boring, liveless over moderated servers. They give people the tools and let them figure it out.
I liked my nanny comment.
Indeed, that's a valid point. I've never taken issue with facing defeat, as long as it was a fair contest. Interestingly, I don't find myself bothered by griefers either. Witnessing the destruction of one's town is a genuine aspect of the game. What I envision is a scenario where everyone begins the same, and the journey to attain desired items is achieved through the grind.
The game has serious potential to become a highly acclaimed strategy game. Players could forge alliances and select their adversaries according to their preferences. One problem I've noticed revolves around the difficulty of locating fellow players to engage with. This is precisely why I prefer the idea of consistently operational official servers.
However, advanced settings for server owners are planned for the future. You can find the related Megathread here.
I've added this thread to the Popular Community Suggestions so it's more obvious now.
Have a nice day!
Regardless, it appears that you've emerged victorious in this skirmish for the time being. As Munin pointed out, it's likely that Valheim will never evolve into an MMORPG. Well, such is life.
Shifting to a more cheerful topic, I trust that everyone is enjoying the latest update. Wishing you all a wonderful day and a stay cool!
