How viable is Magic in the Ashlands?

I tried it out in the last run in the mistlands and Magic felt underpowered, you had to sacrifice one or even two foods slots to get the required Eitr, have to wear super weak armor and still have to get reasonably close to cast spells, as opposed to sniping from far away with the crossbow and good armor

Have they made it better in this patch? should I skill for magic right away?

I can't find any useful, reliable information about magic.
To summon 1 skeleton with blood magic level 0 you need at least 100 eitr.
So it means you will have to eat at least 2 magic foods since there is no food that can provide you with 100 eitr.
A very boring thing.
I leveled blood magic to 28 just today.
Now summoning 1 skeleton costs me 95 eitr.
Is it possible that there was no information on this?
It is very important to know this since marinated greens give 95 eitr.
This means I can finally summon skeletons by eating just one food.
A nice twist.
What I don't understand is why the hell on the Dead Raiser weapon it still says: ''eitr required 100''
Is this a bug or what?

you know, I've not seen anyone mention this one yet... spirit dmg... I've been relying on 2 weapons for Ashlands, and one of them doesn't even have a very high skill level tbh.. but they both pack some punch for the biome/item.. my primary for dealing with the the new skele's and other "undead" types is the Crystal Battleaxe, the rest of the time I'm using the BM Atgeir..

3 eitr food, nothing less. They give an acceptable amount of stamina at this tier .

walk around Ashland like your the boss now. raise 4 skeletons with protection . wild staff being main weapon, with fracturing for his good knockback at charging askvins or anything, but it's a secondary.

I only use frost for boat trips. every other staves are either too slow or obsolete.

Dundr also lets you walk around like a boss in full Ashlands mage gear and at least 2 eitr foods. Kinda crazy they gave us a shotgun staff.

The trick is tucking the end right up in their face before firing.
