A Problem With Fader (spoilers)
When some friends and I were fighting Fader, we realized something. First, the boss itself is quite easy; one of my friends practically soloed it (more on that later). Second, one of his attacks is a bit overbearing; his ground spikes will appear under you indefinitely until you run a considerable distance away from him (aggro doesn't matter- the spikes will spawn on everyone regardless). The spikes themselves aren't a problem, but if you die (like my friend and I because we touched a tiny patch of lava for less than a second), getting back there is incredibly tedious. Those ground spikes appear under you the moment you return, so if your portal is even remotely close by, the spikes will immediately destroy it and you. So because of this, my other friend had to solo the boss without dying the entire time while we got manhandled by the rest of the biome because our shortcut portal was eviscerated instantly. Now, before some guy comes in here and says "you should've prepped better like more distance and crafting benches yada yada" you have to understand this has never been an issue with previous bosses or even encounters in this biome. Difficulty is not the problem- its the constant sentient spikes that follow people as they return through a distant portal and the slightly orange patches of ground that eviscerate you instantly even with fire resist. Did anyone else encounter this issue or am I about to get a bunch of "git guds" vomited out at me?

There's not much point trying to answer this question if one's mindset is already entrenched.

You'll get the hang of it.
My biggest problem with Fader is that his mechanics aren't hard to deal with, they're just designed to slow you down. Use bonemass/fire potion if solo, bonemass/eikthyr/yagluth if in a party, and he's really a simple boss mechanically. But his adds and his "Run around for a little while or die" mechanic just serve to slow down the fight rather than adding difficulty.

As a solo player I also noticed that he spawned adds and delay tactics faster the lower his HP, so my effective attack windows dropped from frequent to almost never as I got closer to killing him, which again is an annoying mechanic. But yeah, be careful with your boss portals. If you set up a portal too close to the Elder his ranged attack could destroy it. This has always been a part of the game.
