Valheim

Please remove build limits!
Is there anything stopping Valheim from being more similar to a game like Minecraft - where you can dig as deep as you want; or build as high as you want?

Would be so much cooler if we could dig without running into immovable terrain slopes!

I do agree with you there, I had a weird spot in one of my games because I couldnt dig down any more, so it was higher than the rest of the area.

There is at least one mod that allows you to do that (at least to some point), however I think it only works in single-player mode - other players on a server would not see the altered terrain. There may be a way around that, I really haven't gone into it much.

I do agree 100%

It's a limit of the terrain system, it can only render slopes with no overhangs or even vertical faces so allowing unlimited digging creates excessively steep and overstretched connecting triangles that look terrible and would invite edge-case bugs with the creature AI and physics engine.

This seems like a simple ask but it's really a request for a complete engine rebuild of terrain and everything that interacts with it.

In addition the more modifications you make to terrain the more lag you get when playing. The game's lower resolution helps but not enough to eliminate the problem.

Wait.....there's still people that think this? Wow, this hasn't been a thing for a LONG time. Even the Devs have quelled this in several different posts. Haven't even seen a post with someone still thinking this in quite a long time.

There are mods for that. I can understand why devs don't want that to happen, because in some cases it looks super ugly and glitchy.

Can't avoid sea level. Just climb higher altitude and dig deeper.
