Can I do something with broken (0 durability) tools?
Maybe repair it (with less materials than a new tool requires), or disassemble for scraps (i.e. regain some material from it), or at least destroy it, so it wouldn't litter the ground?

Repair doesn't cost anything. Go to a working, roofed, workbench and click the hammer button until it's all done.

All tools can be repaired freely at one of the workbenches it was created on. There is a little hammer icon next to the list of craftable icons, click on that to repair weapons, etc. Later on in the game you can build an Obliterator that destroys anything you put inside of it, you will receive some coal for your efforts, which can be obliterated again until nothing remains.

All tools can be repaired as long as the workbench/forge meets the level requirement.

Question says TOOLS. Like the Axe for chopping wood.
I just started and have the same question.
Can I repair tools with 0 durabilty or just throw them away? (is it the same for weapons?)

Edit: Nevermind, was to slow :)

I was fighting the queen and had a small base setup outside her lair with the basic workbench, forge, black forge and galdr table so i could exit her lair and go back. I didn't require any of the upgrades to repair my weapons etc.

I do for all my weapons and tools. If I use an non-upgraded forge, for example, I cannot repair anything with black metal.

yea the idea of a little campsite where you can get like a 8-10 comfort & repair stations went from a 5 min job in the swamp to a 45 min effort of lugging every kind of metal ingots and wood and hides and everything else along for the ride. Now you 'need' workbench and at least 3 upgrades, forge and at least 3 upgrades, black forge, magic alter, fire of some sort, rug/banner/chair/table/ quickies for comfort... you may as well build a full on house at that point as it won't fit into small prefab buildings anymore.

I would really like a QOL pass where:
- the blast furnace should let you smelt lower tier metals.
- black forge should count as a max upgraded forge
- let us have an all in one repair station!

and if really, really generous:
- an all in one cooking station rather than a spit/oven/stove juggling act

To be fair, I use some mods that, in my estimation, help reinvigorate areas that need it.

Here is the short list of mods I use:

  • Valheim Plus
  • Plant Easily
  • Plant Everything
  • Server Devcommands (allows server commands from listed admins, just like single player)
  • Epic Loot
  • BoatAdditions (adds six new boats, some with better speed, cargo space, and adds an anchor for all boats)

I do not extensively mod the game, but Valheim Plus is hands-down the best of the bunch, because so much can be altered from a single mod. Example: I changed the way food expires, in that there is no slow reduction until it expires.
