One hit tap against friendly animals that doesn't cause panic in other tamed animals iirc

As already said, it's to make sure you don't panic all your tamed animals the moment you slaughter one.
It also doesn't require you to have "friendly fire" being turned on.

The amount of meat depends the amount of stars an animal has.
No * animals give one meat and skin;
1 * animals give two meat and skins;
2 * animals give 4 meat and skins.

While that's the same for the wild animals, the fact you can control the breeding instead of relying on the Sadistic Number Generator (aka SNG) makes the butcher knife so valuable.

If you are playing solo there's no point in having it at all. You can just leave friendly fire on full time (as long as you are careful about accidental clicks while you are feeding your tames). Killing tames doesn't panic your other tames whether you use a butcher knife or your regular weapon(s). Any weapon you have including the butcher knife will one shot kill any tame you have except for Lox which will take 2-3 swings with either your current weapon or the butcher knife.

The butcher knife also lets you "switch out" skeletons from the Dead Raiser to get a set with the weapons you want.

Does it? Didnt know that! Nice info, thanks. :)
I usually never bother with one and just use friendly fire since you can also get skillups using ff, but being able to switch out the skeletons you dont like is important enough I do believe I'll start including one in my blood magic auto-trainer.

To be clear, you still just kill and resummon them until you get the one you want.

Haha, you've obviously never done this and hung around Dvergr when they are being attacked.

That's a pretty big leap from butcher knives and tamed boars don't you think? Or are you trying to say you can kill Dvergrs without aggroing the rest by using a tin butcher knife on them? (Which I haven't tried but I doubt works).

I always take out dvergrs by aggroing other mistland creatures and introducing them to each other and then finishing off the injured leftovers.
