100% This.

My vague interests if (I highly doubt this) Iron gate can come up with something better than the three or so Modded versions I've played through.

They have a VERY high bar to reach to do that and I don't think they will make it personally. The Modding community has left them in the dust

That is my thought too.

I love this game but the sad "it's done when it's done" indicates they simply became lazy and this is exemplified by modders out pacing them in providing content.

There are mods that seem to be roughly similar to Pam's Harvest Craft in minecraft. That is promising at least.

Jeez, when will devs understand that more content does not always equal better? What about, oh I don't know, expand and improve the base game's features and mechanics that's been untouched since the initial release?

As much as I'd like that, it's doubtful considering most of the challenge in mistlands relies on forcing players to deal with those mechanical issues. Imagine how pointless mistlands would be if proper climbing mechanics (as opposed to "jump up this cliff / drown if the shoreline isn't perfect to walk out of"), better weapon hitboxes (able to attack enemies more than six inches above or below without using a super slow and stamina draining axe/mace alt attack), and unimpeded vision distance rendering were suddenly added to the game.

This is a great topic.

A big point of consternation for me is that players cannot attack up or down but mobs can. There is a simple mod that fixes this. This should have been in the game long ago but has been ignored. It make it look like the dev's are extremely lazy. For real, a modder fixed this. Please Valheim devs, do not become like Bethesda and require modders to fix your game.

Ooh bugger, how far away do I need to be?

the devs said all land connections to ashlands will be removed. so if you can walk over to the ashlands from your base : you are in an area that will likely stop existing or become flat out ocean after release.

this wont only affect ashlands biome but all connecting biomes to some degree aswell.

i would keep a fair bit of distance to be safe.

if you wanna know for certain post a screenshot of your current map with the base location.

Is Ashlands the last biome?

No there is frozen north and possibly more ocean content to come.

Within the next 200 years.

Valheim underground and underwater biomes would be cool. Jungle, or tropical islands. Might not fit with the vision though.

During Hildir's Quest, I was at the southern extreme of a Mistlands area and noticed surtlings getting caught in the surf below. I stayed north of their position and built a small teleport hut. Recently I came back through the port and the landscape had completely changed:

No surtlings below and what I assumed was an adjoining Ashland segment was split off from the Mistlands and floated south. Since I didn't venture in, I hope it will remain a pristine Ashland come this summer.

thats an entirely different issue you got there. none of the planned ashlands changes are on the current game version.

So is moder now going to be possibly surrounded by not only mistlands but ashlands as well?

Hopefully they will adjust world generation and boss spawn locations

Because i am pretty sure being near ashlands at silver age will mean danger of getting oneshot.

Also not every biome has to be the part of a lineer progression either imo. I think optional biomes/locations would be nice at some point.

For example deep north can be an optional area designed around silver age. Since it can also spawn mountains currently.

Doubtful, as the Ashlands (and frozen north) already exist in maps, in a fixed location without breaks, and existing boss altars never spawn there currently. So unless the devs specifically rewrite that part of the procedural generation, it should be safe. And since "rewrite what's finished - even if it might be improved or fix something the community is screaming about let alone a random change that would make things worse" is pretty nonexistent with this dev team, I'd be very surprised if that happened.

since mountains cannot spawn inside ashlands biome space and the devs have shown ashlands will not have ANY land connections to existing biomes and only exist at the southern edge of each worldmap its safe to assume that will never happen. as unlike previous biomes ashlands will only be found down south and not randomly elsewhere like other biomes.
