Every "unpassworded" server has a password?

Well i decided to attempt to join a public server and see what it was like and every single one i have tried to join is passworded but the "key" icon is no present. Is this something that has been a thing since launch and i just never knew becuase i never tried open servers?

As I recall, a mod is required to remove the password.

Why are servers with no "key" asking for passwords.... this was my question.

Not sure where you found these servers without a password protection key but by default the game does not allow you to host a server without a password. Public servers would not work as everyone can just do anything with the console etc. You need to find a group of people to play with elsewhere first.

the sad part is even non public servers you can use a mod to bypass the restrictions and use most devcommands freely. so servers where randoms are allowed to join either by password or freely need admin moderation to keep the cheaters out of it.

We have told you that modded servers are the reason no password shows in the list. There is nothing further to discuss.
