but exploreing 75% of any map is pretty much never needed or done for normal progression of this game.
Yes but as other pointed out there can be discrepancies with what you'll see rendered for mistlands.
Also map seeds got revamped then too. So if you'd thought about for example just making a new map of the same seed, there's a distinct possibility that bosses and other spawns have been moved around as well that you'd previously familiarized yourself with on your old seed.
So make sure you use to see what those changes may have been in comparison to your old map version too. You can use this site to check that out as well as look at other seeds and randomly find other seeds as you choose: https://valheim-map.world
Lastly if neither the old nor new map's seed ID match your interests any more then here is one map seed that people have been using that has all bosses relatively on 1 land mass along with both vendors haldor and hildir and plenty of resources for all needs:
wzSqEhBs3i
Keep in mind however that come ashlands, this map too may not remain the same in such terms.
Also some other things that you may be unaware of that have occurred is that you can now change settigns for your maps via the world modifier settings allow you a lot more customization of things like resource gathering mob difficulties, transporting of ore/metal through portals and more.
Use the linked website I mentioned above. Hildir has multiple spawn points on a map and if your 20% would've included all, then yes, you'd have to have start a new map. That however is unlikely so other spawn spots should exist.
Additionally Hildir (who is also a merchant) sends you on 3 quests to kill 3 mini bosses which also have multiple spawn points so they too unlikely will be fully disrupted from spawning if only 20% ofthe map was revealed.
All that said though, keep in mind that its not necessarily just 20% because it has to do with visually rendered vs the black fog out of the map. This means that locations on the edges of that blackened out parameter are likely already rendered a bit in from there so anything near those edges should be cautioned about in assuming their safe.
By the way, what is your map's seed actually?
the new npc has its own camp with a magic shield around it just like the old one. they arent in the same place. as 1 of them the old one needs black forest to spawn. the new one needs meadows.
this meadows needs to be between 3000-5100 meters from central spawn. so dont waste your map by looking for her closer to the world center. start about 1/3 of the distance towards to the world center and then go in a giant circle. youll find her sooner or later doing. us a ship to speed the process up.
that beeing said : this merchant is not required for anything. all you get from her is cosmetic stuff and nothing she sells is needed for gear or biome progression. and doing her task will trigger new harder raid events to attack your base.
