where can I find the runestone in the plains?
I have over 50 plains exposed, some with multiple Furling villages and not one rune-stone for the boss.

Runestones in the Plains can only be found around Stonehenge looking like structures. There are two different types a small one and a bigger one, as the bigger ones usually have 2-3 Berserkers guarding them. The boss runestone has a chance to spawn around these structures and not in Fulling villages.

They can also sometimes be found in goblin towers if memory serves.

If you want to find them to find the location of Yagluth, don't bother.

Instead, look for a large, 5 finger like structure in the plains. That's Yagluth's altar and the moment you activate the rune stone there, you will have the altar popping up at your map as well.

Considering the size of the thing, it's a lot easier to locate as one of those buildings. :steamhappy:

The other solution:

Use the Valheim map generator and set it to show "boss markers".

Had the same problem. Found the boss location before I found a single runestone.

https://valheim-map.world has options for boss location or boss stone location. You can also keep fog on to not reveale the map and juts get a general direction.

This is usually how I find Yagluth, though once or twice I have come across a rune stone.

They are found by the rare henge structures.

Its actually easier to find Yag's alter than it is to find one of his vegvisir's

you can also run around the plains at night - might be able to spot the glow of the vegvisir

Only if you have very good eyesight. The fulings carry torches at night. Its very easy to miss the glow of the Vegvisir and you can't see the terrain either.

Your map has a lot of plains if there are 50 separate ones!

If you didn't find a vegvisir when you explored the plains, then you don't need it. Take a ship and travel along the coast of the plains. When you see five giant stone fingers, you haven't found the right boss. This place is always located close to the shore. Try starting in directions from southwest to southeast at a distance of 1/2 to 2/3 from the center. Usually in this area there is always a Yaglut on the island.

at that time the 50 were spread out across a number of worlds. Since then my main map has 15 but some of them are very small with no furling camps. I did finally find a Vegvisir, right next to the Yagluth alter.... ugh. I have tried to fight him. I am definitely not ready. I do have the Frostner but need to upgrade it one more level for the last one. I watched a video on the battle and they were taking off more life than I am, also seemed to use less stamina than I am . Back to wolf mountain to get more silver and drake glands. Now, all those attacks while taming wolves is paying off.

I used the silver sword the first time. I should probably do a few more times for some more Torn Souls because it takes far too long to get wisps for Mistlands with just one altar.

Yagluth[valheim.fandom.com] is an undead king so use weapons that inflict Spirit damage:
  1. Silver Sword[valheim.fandom.com]
  2. Silver Knife[valheim.fandom.com]
  3. Crystal BattleAxe[valheim.fandom.com]
  4. Frostner[valheim.fandom.com]
  5. Silver Arrows[valheim.fandom.com]

I've had most success with the Silver Sword and Frostner while using Silver Arrows to keep his health down while recovering my own plus my stamina. The Silver Knife is certainly faster if you want to just dart in, take a few shots and dart out. The Crystal BattleAxe may inflict a lot of damage but it is very slow and as a two-handed weapon doesn't allow you much block (not that blocking does much good with Yagluth - better to evade).

Yagluth is the perfect warm-up act for Ashlands where the undead will be found nearly everywhere. However you learn to defeat Yagluth, hold those skills for your soon-to-come adventures in the Ashlands.

When I found my Stonehenge the runestone blended in with the rest of the structure.

Had I not climbed on top of one of them I likely would have missed it. Think I got lucky and only ended up exploring a half dozen plains biomes to find it and turned out the boss was closer than then stone.

its easier to just look for the giant hand coming out of the ground.
