There is plenty of options to choose from and change. Make your game what ever you want. One tip. Don't make it too easy, just small changes.
* increase drop rate to 3x. You will gather resources much faster. It also affects farming.
* Remove all restrictions on portals. You can teleport with metal.
You can also change the settings to use no resources when building and crafting. I have not tried this option myself.
You can change World Modifier settings as often as you like.
Those modpacks look very interesting. I'll get a better hang of the vanilla game, and then try some mods to see what I like.
Thanks everyone!
1. Equipment and Quick Slots (add slots for armour and for consumables(food/potion))
2. Better Archery (quiver system, retrievable arrows, better aim, and realistic arrow physics)
3. Plant Everything (more options for planting)
4. Auto Feed (place simple chest and drop food there for tamed creatures)
Optionally:
mods for gathering feathers and Tar
5. FeatherCollector
6. TarCollector
ooh that's lovely, where can I get them? Nexus. Thunder?
In addition to the mods the other comment recommended i'd suggest a mod that modifies the stamina cost for swimming/jumping and a backpack mod to lessen the pain of solo play a bit if that's what you're intending to play.
Yes, all of them u can find on Nexus
I go with casual for death penalty, 1.5x world drops and portal items (which includes ore) and it feels okay-ish, and a bit more similar to Terraria.
It'll always feel sluggish compared to let's say 7days to die since you can barely build anything with a stack of wood/stone/iron, getting a stack of a rare resource in a cart or on a boat, will require setting up a chain of outposts so you can get your things back, when inevitably something sneaks up on you, when fatigue sets in.
There are a bunch of speed-running tricks like prospecting, but they sort of go into exploit territory.
And yeah, I play solo.
You can use the Veinmine mod (hold left Alt and whack a couple of times) to save about an hour per copper node, as an example. It doesn't alter difficulty, but trades your feeling of immersion for your real world time.
speedy paths, ship exploration range. Plant everything i like because it lets me get oak seeds for aesthetics and change their size. You can plant berry bushes too which COULD be a balance issue, but i set it high so that i need 15-25 berries to plant a bush. Farm grid, AOE harvest, heightmap unlimited
Thats most of the really good ones. I might mention more but it looks like thunderstore rs2modmann deleted my setup for valheim so idk
1.
what "equipandquickslots" does is essential but its not backward compatible with all the mods ive tried .. using backpacks, jewelry, multiple special items etc.. the mod i use is "AzuExtendedPlayerInventory" by Azumatt he adjusts the slots you see to the mods that we are using without the need to do any configuration .. the most versatile mod ive seen so far.
PS: if there is a mod that its creater is waranted a donation its this guy.
2nd.
the game inventory weight capacity is crap - thats why people love haldor's belt and hardly ever let go of it.
the 2nd mod i recomend is "ItemStacks" by mtnewton - this mod changes the amounts of stacked items and their weight by a lot - doesn't change the amounts you gather ,, just changes the amount of times you waste moving back and forth transporting low amounts of items. -- usually when mining your pickaxe durability will go out before you get full to go back to store things ^^.
3rd.
-actually a few mods-
when you die the game's vanilla like xp progression with weapons and shield and other weapons doesn't feel complete .. when you fight a long time using a weapon there should be a bonus in proficiency,. so next are a few mods from Smoothbrain.
SmartSkills - Remembers the highest level a skill has ever reached. If you drop below that skill level, the skill will gain bonus experience, until you are back at that level. -and exra small things like Sneak increases backstab damage and Sneak gains bonus experience on backstab.
"Cooking" - Adds a skill that increases health, stamina, eitr and HP regeneration for cooked food.
"Blacksmithing" - Adds a skill that increases the durability of armor and weapons and other perks for blacksmithing.
"Foraging" - Adds a skill that increases item yield while foraging and makes berries and mushrooms respawn faster.
"Farming" - Adds a skill that makes crops grow faster and increases item yield for harvesting crops.
"Starvation" - Makes you starve, if you don't eat
"Tenacity" - Adds a skill that reduces damage taken. Skill increases by taking damage.
"Evasion" - Adds a skill that reduces the stamina usage of dodging.
"Vitality" - Adds a vitality skill that increases the base health and increases by eating food. Starting at skill level 30, you gain +1 bonus health regeneration. Starting at skill level 50, you gain 10% increased health from food. Eating Bukeperries makes you lose some Vitality experience.
"PackHorse" - Adds a pack horse skill that increases while moving with a full inventory and increases the maximum carry weight.
"Lumberjacking" - Replaces the wood cutting skill with a Lumberjacking skill. Increases damage dealt to trees and item yield from trees, reduces damage taken from falling trees. Also increases movement speed in forests.
"Ranching" - Adds a skill that makes taming animals faster and increases item yield of tamed creatures.
"Mining" - Adds a skill that increases damage dealt while mining and item yield from ore deposits.
"Sailing" - Adds a skill that increases the health of ships, sailing speed and exploration radius while sailing.
"DualWield" - lets you dualwield some types of weapons of the same kind.
4th.
the game uses a portal concept that joins 2 by their name.. after a long time you will have a building full of portals and even forget where they go.. so the mod i recomend is TargetPortal also from Smoothbrain
"TargetPortal" - when you enter a portal, a map opens and displays the position of all portals. Click one of the portal icons, to teleport to this portal. You can still tag the portals and the tags will be displayed with the portal icon on the map.
Last and optional 5th
magic is in the game and we should be given a choice to use it since the start.
"MagicPlugin" by blacks7ar is the most balanced and complete magic mod ive tried.
Adds early-game till end-game magic weapons (elemental and summoning totems) and armor sets, accessories with their own inventory slot, eitr foods and a battle mount.
PS: "CraftingFromContainers" by BlackViking pulls items from containers in the area . this is the one i use in solo game -- any mod of this kind is better not used in multiplayer since so far i havent found a mod that binds the items to the player or allows for a choice for others to use our items.

lots of these are just to help cut the fat of the grindiness, even if some do affect difficulty in some way i know there are plenty of mods that can increase difficulty to compensate
