As far as I know not one is supporting that right now. I host a dedicated server myself.

Hopefully by Feb2nd they will have some info on who will be offering servers. I'm just going from their own notes that state dedicated server support.
Worst case i know host website that will had a server for me but thats not going to work for most others.

You can host a game and play with friends through:
- The game (non-persistent, stops when you quit the game)
- The dedicated Valheim Dedicated Server (Steam Tool, no UI, server stays on as long as you keep it running)
Steam tools can be installed and run without a Steam account, so independent server providers can/will exist.

Linux Server support?

Hello!

Does the "Valheim Dedicated Server" mean you have to setup such a server (the hardware) on your own (or rent is from certain providers) and Steam provides the necessary software tools or is Steam also providing for the server physically?

The dedicated server app supports Linux (and Windows). The developer of this game will provide the software, you will have to provide the hardware (computer) yourself. Unless I'm mistaken Steam's services will only be used to find games your friends are hosting, and not much more.

Do you have to pay for an extra copy of the game to run a dedicated server?
I have a separate box that I run my dedicated servers on for me and my friends to play.
