i have had to swap worlds muti time's due to the furlins taken over spawns . hell i had lox spawns in places they shouldn't be .
So I decided to spawn him in deep north and made up a whole story about him being kidnapped by evil monsters. I built a fort around him and spawned a lot of enemies to defend it. So my friends got a fun mission to save him.
unless mods at are play he does spawn. and his sign shows up on the map as soon as someone gets into loading range for EVERYONE on the map.
he can have some oddball spawns but unless you explored the ENTIRE black forest of your map (EXTREMELY unlikely to be the case) he does spawn safely.
if you use mods well there goes your 100% chance. as if a mod messes with this somehow it can ruin the spawn. but most mods dont touch him or his spawn.
dont rely on the online cheatmap. its incorrect in some cases and patches can move spawns around if they havent been discovered yet.
Question: how did you use devcommands to check his spawn?
AFAIK the trader has 10 potential spawns, and it only actually spawn once a player gets close enough to one of the possible spawns. I don't know the algo or anything, but I would not expect Haldor to *exist* in the world until one of the possible spawn points has been generated via exploration.
You are probably right. I tried with find Haldor command (thought it may show the closest possible location) and when it failed I teleported to all the locations I got from world map generator.
Its also rather possible that if your original save was an old seed( as an example before the implementation of mistlands or similar) when the devs changed the maps then it may have created an issue when you converted and caused the loss the trader.
Also, you didnt speak of hildir but do you have hildir also spawning on the server? If not then that lends more possibility to that being the case.
I got super curious and looked into the original spawn data via F5 and "find Haldor". We were chanceless form the start. No spawns for him in our world. So we have to go without him. So yes it is possible that he doesn`t show up. Maybe some bug with creating our world while they put up some new data.
He will be spawned 1 meter in front of you and 1 meter above the ground, so you will need to fix it by raising the ground or building something below him.
My suggestion is to spawn him and build a nice small wooden hut around him. Or if you want to put some effort in it like I did on my server, build a whole enemy fort around him, spawn enemies and organize server event for your friends to set him free.
