the biome progression is :
meadows (duh) ---> black forest---> swamp----> mountains---->plains----> mistlands----> (this year) ashlands -----> deep north (soon trademark)
going into the other biomes without haveing unlocked the structures and build options or tools needed to even DO ANYTHING inside of these biomes in terms of materials is USELESS as you wont be able to make anything with the materials even if you survive.
you can kinda skip some of the progression if youre REALLY REALLY skilled at avoiding attacks but any gear aside 3 items after mountains is unobtainable without beating the mountain boss first.
if you went from black forest gear to plains of course you get ONESHOT. youre trying to enter a biome thats 3 biomes ahead of your current gear.
welcome to valheim. learn. adapt. if something doesnt work dont slam your head againist it. try something else instead.
Food and armor from first biome is enough to tank at least one hit from any non-starred, non-boss enemy, even in last biome.
If you die in one hit, its a choice you made, thou the road is not obvious.
Learn from mistakes and try again!
Death is an experiential learning tool in many games including this one. Your getting killed by wandering into biomes you're not ready to handle yet should help to notify you that you're not ready for those biomes as a whole.
That said there are also vids on youtube of people doing passive, naken, speed and other types of play runs that would also help inform you that there are methods to get through the game that may be of merit for you to checkout and consider to improve your strategies for survival. You've posted before your creativity in defense and play before with the game so you should be able to adapt and improve your situation by those and other strat rethinkings.
I 2nd THIS!
You run and try to pick them off one by one using both the terrain and possible nearby structures.
(and tyes, there was a bloody spawner nearby I had missed while scouting)
If you decided to wave "good bye" to them while being equipped with a lvl 2 club, a lvl 3 mace and lvl 3 troll leather, it's quite certain you get one shotted by that troll. Or two shotted when using the BF food.
Heck, it can even happen in the Swamps when you arrive there at the wrong time of the day or encountering the wrong enemy.
Or you move through the BF with the right gear and encounter a deathsquito far from the plains, because it has been trying to follow / kill some greydwarves - or in my case a troll - and decided the player was an easier target.
I remember plenty of posts of players getting killed when the abomination was added to the game.
We do now know how to deal with it, but at the time it was all trial and error; causing many deaths.
So all of you assuming the OP entered the plains with the wrong outfit and wrong food; it's also likely the OP hit a monster at the wrong time in a biome (s)he has been in before.
You know Irongrate would be wise to make "Learn, Adapt, Survive" the games subtitle.
OP its can be done you can skip a Biome now and again if you really want but I am the opposite, over prepare in one Biome and you can demolish the next.
Yes it takes extra time but this is just not a game for the impatient as a rule (With a Nod of respect to the Speed Runners - not my style or what I would enjoy but glad the're there to show us it can be done!)
if you are close to the dreaded plains yes the ever annoying Deathsquito may get you a time or two. But once you are aware of that you can snipe them dead with a Crude bow if you must.
First time i met a wolf on first play through I had just Killed the Eldar and was at the snow line in the black forest. No Star wolf ate my face real quick even geared to T3 Bronze gear (Yes I was that stoopid then LOL!)
