The problem gets much worse later when looking for a swamp with a crypt. A lot of times the smaller strip swamps on the side of a mountain won't have any. Usually I sail past to see if I see any of those small rectangular buildings before choosing a swamp to visit. Even so, look for one that has a meadows or black forest (not plains!) next to it so you can walk in and out. It's much safer that way.
If you are struggling to find Tombs then you are going to LOVE the Crypts in the swamp, lol.
And I have never experienced a lack of dungeons in game. if an area is lacking, move on to the next area of that biome. Plenty of them in the world. Only unfortunate situation I have experienced, is if you start of an smaller island with a small Black Forest (and I have only seen that happen once in many worlds I have played). But always an easy raft travel away to the next island. And always explorer all of the starter island first
need a sizeable biome, sometimes you get little strips of biomes and you probably wont get a dungeon there
if you find multiple copper domes it should be big enough for some dungeons
To answer your question. Each world guarantees a plethora of crypts on the map in in various black forest biomes. However not all black forest biomes will have lots(or in rare cases) any crypts on the map. Each map(seed) is different in these regards.
If you do not wish to rely on eyeballing for crypts, you can of course opt to use the website that many people do to find anything on their specific map seed:
https://valheim-map.world/
This will show as much on the maps as you wish by box ticking but keep in mind its all spoilers really :P.
This isnt correct. Size of a blackforest biome doesnt necessarily guarantee the map's generation of a crypt. You can find very small blackforest biomes with those crypts situated in them. You can even on rare occasions find those crypts spawning on the side of a mountain adjacent to a black forest.
Here's a good example:
ZkprpDvzku
On that map with the above website map system I linked for the OP, change in the tab menu to "biome only" view and tick the box for "tomb/crypt/Inf.Mine.
You should be able to see from there how large or small, crypt distributions in the black forest biomes (dark green) vary and size of the biome isnt relevant.
But to be more precise for you with coordinates on the map:
-1907, 2048 That decent sized black forest biome has ONE black forest crypt in it.
And then by contrast:
5570, -1812 That small, little black forest biome as THREE crypts in it.
And just south east of it is an even smaller, tiny really, little island of a black forest biome with TWO crypts in it.
Thus, size of the biome doesnt matter. Its RNG of the algorithm used that does the seed generation.
Burial Chamber entrances have 2 different appearances. One is an entry into the ground. The other is an above ground stone corridor.
Stone building ruins in the Black Forest will have either greydwarves or skeletons. These are not dungeons.
