Why won't my campfire light?
I have it indoors in a small hut that has a small hole in the roof for smoke. During rain it goes out, but before I was able to cover the hole in the roof temporarily to get the fire lit again, but it's not working this time. I've read that it can go out due to wind and my hut has a window, but the wind seems to be blowing away, does direction not really matter?

If it only goes out during the rain and not during sunny days then it is very strange indeed as my guess would be that the fire suffocates on the floorboards.

Try building wall pieces under the floor that surrounds the fire so that they clip into the ground, just in case the game calculates the fire being outside.

Alright I will give this a try. So I should snap the wall pieces under the floor? Any tips on doing this? Building has been a bit finicky for me so far so I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

Regular floor pieces wont cover it from rain, it has to be roof pieces.

Edit: That was my first thought at least, but might be wrong because I've always built that way and never encountered your problem. And I can see that you have a regular floor piece on top, so try a roof piece see if it works.

Yeah, try snapping the wall under the floor, should be easy with the "half wall".

I don't remember what the keybind is but when you are in build mode the tooltips should mention snapping. The half wall should snap automatically but if not mess around with the keybinds a bit when building. You'll get a hang of it eventually.

Oh yeah on closer inspection I just noticed that the roof above the firepit is actually a floor piece. In that case OP needs to switch the floor piece to a roof piece, since only roof stops rain.

The hole the fire is sitting in is irregular, not a complete 2x2 square, which smoke needs to vent. It looks like it's being suffocated at the source, not from rain. Smoke particles are surprisingly big in this game. And it looks like even if you got that fire going, you would get smoked because that ceiling is not tall enough to get by without a chimney.

A proper chimney, minus any fancy tricks which you may learn about later, needs a roof piece directly over the fire and a full 2x2, or one full wall or floor piece, opening to vent. (You can capture smoke instead of venting it if you know what you are doing.)

Here's an example of one way to do it:

The fire doesn't suffocate during the day when I remove the roof cover. I shall try to place a roof piece instead of a floor piece up top and see if that's my issue. Thanks for the tips!
