Is there a way to fix the bow aiming?
I'm aware projectiles drop but the aim is messed up anyway. I have to aim meters above even for something right in front of me.
Is it just the first ♥♥♥♥♥♥ bow or are they all like this?

First bow only, Later you get better bows that shoot straighter.

Alright thanks

That's why I never build a crude bow. It just plain sucks. A flint spear will do the same job and better. I rather bump birches and go straight for a finewood bow.

the curde bow is just perfect.

Does the actual projectile still launch from your feet?

...seems that way; up close aiming, especially 'downward' as into a trench or from an elevated location....is pure jank, arrows end up well below reticle--even with a skill level of 100.

It launches from the bow, which are not held in the middle of the reticle unless you aim like 45° downwards. If you are not trying to shoot over something very close to you, you can pretty much ignore the difference. Enemies have pretty big hitzones.

Remember that the reticle is from the point-of-view of the camera (which floats about a meter above and behind you, plus a bit to the side, at standard zoom) but the actual aiming and firing is relative to the character. So, if the reticle is pointing at where you want to hit, the character is actually pointing their bow a bit below that.

I'm sure you already figured this out by now, but let me outline the issue as I perceive it. To shoot arrows accurately, press and hold the trigger button while pulling the bowstring all the way back; otherwise, the arrows will descend right in front of you.

My rule of thumb to hit with a bow:

Aim slightly above the target.
For animals - deer, boar, neck, hares - I'm usually aiming at the head and having the bottom of the reticle barely tiuch the top of the head.
Same goes for the blobs, growths and ticks, as well as Greylings, Greydwarves, Draugr, skelletons and Furlings.

For bosses, Gjalls, Lox' and trolls it doesn't matter much as they're big enough to be hit anyway; although I prefer to aim at the chest to make sure I won't miss either.
For Drakes I'm usually aiming at their necks / shoulder as they're large enough to be hit as well.
For leeches, seekers and seeker soldiers I usually aim halfway the body as their large enough to be hit anway.

And to get maximum effect, no matter which bow I use, I'm always doing my first shot while sneaking and having the string pulled back to the max.

Thorin :)

I aim slightly above and to the right

For the crude bow, aim at the bottom of the name, more or less for distance. For higher bows tighten that up each time you upgrade. You get used to it.

And an easy fix for the devs, it is one(maybe 2) value changes for it to you know, actually shoot where the reticle is. Bugs they cba to fix are still....bugs.

Edit:

Vanilla (Finewood Bow) is:
Attack Height = 1.5
Attack Offset = 0.1

Adjusted to match reticle:
Attack Height = 1.65
Attack Offset = 0.25

Values will depend on the Bow attach values/bow size.

There isn't anything to "fix" if they want a semi-realistic fast bow shooting feeling and not an arrow popping out of your face. You are not holding a rifle on your shoulder, aligning directly with the aim. Frankly I've seen FPS having similar mechanics (Killing Floor is one of them, also "Overwhelmingly positive") and the requirements for aiming changing when enemies are really close.

I've been gaming for 25 years this is moronic. There are a ton of realistic even simulative medieval games in third person who know that's just a lazy dev implementation.
