How do I lower "instances" near my base?
My base is pretty small. Not sure why I have almost 7000 instances.
l already tried removing most of the torches, removing things like trees and bushes

you can't. But you can build in crazy spots like cliffs and natural features to take advantage of

If you do a lot of terrain modification, it can increase your amount of instances quite a bit too.
If you've done a complicated build with lots of pieces, you might also try a redesign to streamline your base design

what's an "instance" we not talking about raids?

Number of game objects being simulated and rendered around the player. Modifications to the terrain are apparently made of game objects too.

Terrain modifications don't increase the instance count now. That's outdated information from the old terrain system. I believe they're all saved as the same modification in each chunk now so the game applies them in one go rather than individually.

Ocean has the lowest instance count so raise small islands and build there. Other than that plains then meadows have the lowest.

Also lights create multiple instances and glass lags because of the reflections. Oddly the most laggy thing is coin piles that are clipping into each other. Removing a few of those caused a noticeable fps boost in my base

you can't reduce them, merely not create them. the best thing you can do to keep frame rates high in your base is to build near lots of open ocean (no instances to render). I have also had good luck in mountains, but if a blizzard hits then bye bye frames.
this is actually a regular issue for me because while my bases dont use a lot of land, my building style is very very dense. lots of custom placed pieces of trim and adornments. I try to max out a functioning base around 8-10k instances.
my creative builds have no restrictions and the frames in my village can get down to the low 30s. it's my sincere hope that the game will properly optimized for 1.0 and this won't be such a problem anymore.

yeah, if you're gonna have a treasure room then it should be isolated somewhere off site.

Good to know about the coin piles.

Another thing that kills FPS: tamed animals near your base. I has a run where my plain base was next to my gigantic lox farm. I had 30 loves in there and it hurt a lot.

Make sure you also increase the scripting threads available under valheim_Data/boot.config setting.

The flag is gc-max-time-slice=<number_of_machine_threads>

IE 20 threads is `gc-max-time-slice=20`

cut down light source's and use modded glass not their one.
The wind mill seems to cause issues when you look at it and are moving from certain angles as well.

It there many stuff lying on the floor? Are you throwing unneeded things just into the ocean? Items stay forever if they are within a workbench area or near a player.

Thanks for the info re the tamed animals, I have a meadows base with wolves roaming all round the base (and a trench). Defence is great nothing gets near but it is really getting difficult to do even the simplest of things as it is so jerky when moving.

Did you build out of stone? You could try exchanging small stone by large ones.
Delete constructions you can't see anyway (like redundant walls etc)
Also note that terraforming counts as well, so keep it at a minimum.

I read about a lot of things and im surprised that i dont have any lag problem at all and i didnt faced any freezes or bad function of anything and my base is full of ♥♥♥♥♥ and also located in a spot where swamp, meadows and black forest are meeting all togheder. I have a lot off wild animals that spawn a lot non-stop outside my base + skeletrons, trols, darugs, leech, gray all kind etc.

The single problem i had was a boat that is gone and no mats left behaind, simply gone.
