So keep an eye on your stamina bar. When it is possible, try not to sprint. Go slow and keep your stamina bar above 50%.
I’m sure you can handle a single wolf easily. Probably 2-3 wolves wouldn’t be a problem either if you are prepared. However, if you get attacked by multiple wolves while your stamina bar is low, you won’t be able to fight… and you won’t be able to run away either.
So my approach (even after almost 4000 hours) is to go slow and be ready to fight or flee at any moment.
When climbing steep slopes, there is no big danger of wolves so i use the whole stamina bar to climb as soon as possible. When traversing flatter areas I walk slowly and keep my stamina bar above 50%. As I walk, I scan the surrounding for high rocks to use as a safe place if I got attacked by multiple wolves.
If you didn’t use tasty mead yet, now is a good time to start using it.
PRO TIP : have a portal nearby, have a frost resist mead at home for a death run
- silver nodes are usually at higher elevations
- if you see a small broken wooden hut, there is usually a silver node somewhere close to it
- consider the size of all silver nodes - star shaped, if you are at higher elevations and see patches of flat snow where a large star shaped node could fit in, try to dig a bit to check, chance is good you might find something
- you can tame a pack of wolves easily by digging a hole and 'body luring' them into it, build some elevated hut with fire access, throw some raw meat into the hole and wait until they tame... with a pack of 4+ wolves, your life might get easier *dont lead them to attack the ice golems, they will get obliterated
- capturing an old stone fort in the mountains and putting a portal in it, might be a good mining base
I like the weather changes. The drakes are fun to kill with fire arrows.
Am still trying to decide the very best shield for parrying the Stone Golems.
