about the Cart.
i always ask myself what is the purpose of having them, if they get so so heavy you can't even move the cart.

To carry more stuff. A base player can carry 300 lbs (450 lbs with belt). The cart can carry 5x that and still move, or even more if you're going downhill.

they should make it a little better to carry the cart when you are trying to reach a higher ground

The trick is using your hoe and pickaxe to create meandering paths. Oh, and the ax to clear bushes. Getting stuck on a bush is real annoying.

i'm begging the Devs, let me hook up my animals to pull the cart PLEASE!

the carts should be way easier to move around, seems like you are trying to lift a mountain when you use the cart

Use your pick ⛏️ and plow more. Pop Eikther and gg

You can also scout copper veins that trail back to your base with the least resistance. Always take the path with the least resistance. - Sun Tzu

Carts allow you carry many more different things, for example, you can take just ~10(500)stacks of wood in your inventory(if you are in full gear), whereas cart can contain 900. The same for other resources - transporting stone, metal around your base, huge amounts of meat if you have a really big farm. Yeah it's very difficult to move a completely filled with metal cart, but otherwise you can lost your resources while dropping/picking up on your way. Just try doing flat paths before you have to carry something heavy

Without roads, carts are truly useless. You really have to engineer a path to make it worthwhile. Which makes it seem not worth the effort. The time you spend making your road, you could have trudged several 450 lb stacks of ore. And it's much easier to run away from a troll with a pack full of ore instead of lugging a cart.

I'm not saying they can't work, just that it rarely seems worth the bother.

with the Fenris armor you get a movement buff that helps a lot with pulling the cart. ya, I have thought for a long time that we should be able to tow a wagon behind a lox.

Just take your axe to the cart, carry the parts up and build it there. Then load the cart and take it down hill.

I build a nice flat road from my dock house to my base. Its worth the time because I'll use that road more than once. I keep a cart at the boat house and unload the ore from the boat into the cart and then move the ore filled cart to the base. Once its empty I take an axe to the cart and I use a portal from the base to the dock house where I reassemble the cart again.

Sprinting will get you over a little bit of a hump in your road and, if you are playing multiplayer, one person can pull the cart while the other pushes it from behind. That works as long as you don't get any rubber banding or lag.

you are hard to please, I think the carts are perfect.
If you cant get your cart up hill its the most obvious thing in the world, you have to much in it..

you can traverse the slope to get up steep bits and place an axe in your hand to chop out the low brush that blocks you.
I repeat, its perfect.

Lox harness for the cart in the end would be great.

I just use them as a big decorative storage at some points around my base... Looks much more realistic that there's cart around some mill for example... then Black Metal Chest.

Yes you CAN make roads but does not worth an effort as one commenter said. Maybe in a swamp, if you clear the crypt and got really big amount of iron, you could spend some time to flatten the ground with hoe just to avoid several runs through the swampies. But even that seems wasting the time.

I usually have one portable portal which I carry around swamps and the next is to where I drop iron (ship, or small base)... I drop portal which I connect to that ship or small base and couple of chests near Crypt and fill them with iron and other stuff I get in the crypt. Then I move other stuff through portals and start moving iron. While I need to carry iron to the ship manually, I then go back to crypt through portal, so I only make 1 way into swamp with 1 load of iron. Of course I still have to make several runs but it still seems like shorter time then making the roads there...

Carts are great. Move at a diagonal upward angle when going uphill. Dont go straight up. Eikthyr is recommended for stamina usage, but carts are excellent for short-range item transfer.

Some players also use cart(s) to augment the storage slots in their ships and construct their docks with loading ramps for that purpose.
