Pierce damage reduction
Does it stack?
So, if I'd wear the root harnesk and use the serpent scale shield, would I get the benefit of both their pierce damage reduction?

No, the highest resistance will always override everything else.

The Root Harnesk and the Serpent Shield do stack. Not passively, but when actively blocking.

So if you wear both and just stand there, you will get the passive 50% pierce reduction. But blocking is a separate calculation and the Serpent shield 50% resist gets added to this calculation.

BTW, am I wrong to say that the armor system in this game is seriously broken, if a third level piece is one of the most useful in the game? They need to redesign how it works from the ground up, put a new damage formula in and do something to make silver and padded armor more *interesting* instead of just larger protection numbers.

Piercing resistance is only useful against a handful of enemies in the game. The environmental danger in plains are deathquitos though and seekers are the trash enemies of Mistlands (but even those can do blunt damage), so it is rather useful. Having items still useful later on in the game is a big plus of Valheim imo instead of just linearly increasing everything each tier and throwing everything away every few hours.

The more interesting amour pieces are the non-heavy armour ones. Troll, Rooot, Fenris, Eitr-weave. Even with that, people kept saying that those are unusable and you have to grind up heavy armour all the time, so they seem to be on-point with giving different player types different things they like.
